  2. Superb Value. I chose to audition the SV10S and ES 0 people found this helpful

Superb Value. I chose to audition the SV10S and ES1S to see which one I liked better; I would be returning one or both depending on how they performed. The one I would keep would be complimenting my already existing Polk Monitor 45s. Upon receiving the ES1S I knew immediately that I didn't like them. The range frequency was too much on the high side (and therefore had no bass), and the way they were built with an odd aluminum shell just didn't sound right for me. I tried breaking them in for 10 hours as suggested but even then I couldn't convince myself to keep them. I returned them to Fluance, which by the way, was a painless process. And plus, the ES1S were just ugly with its light-grey outer housing and yellow woofers. The SVS10s on the other hand, were simply superb for its price. Given its small size I was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of sound it gave out. They sounded incredibly similar to my Polk 45s, which were bigger and more than twice as expensive. The reason why I decided to keep them was because I was going to use my Monitor 45s as mains, and the SV10S as rear surrounds. Currently, I am powering the SV10S with my Denon DR-AN5 stereo receiver. I'm really pleased with the performance quality given its super reasonable cost. However, if you are planning on getting them, I'd suggest getting them sooner rather than later; it seems the SV line is going to be completely discontinued after the SV10S and its sister centre speakers sell out. A+++ to these small speakers for its value.

  3. I got this pair of SV's from Fluance a few months 0 people found this helpful
    Overall Performance

I got this pair of SV's from Fluance a few months to try out because I wanted to see just how good there speaker are. I ordered them from their website and in a few days had them at my door. I was impressed at how well they were packaged and cushioned in their box. However, I was really surprised at the size of these guys when I pulled them out of the box. They are a deeper speaker than I was thinking. This is not a bad thing, it just needs to be taken into account if you're going to put them on a shelf or desk with limited room. They are probably the biggest 5" speaker that I've heard in a while. Once I got them hooked up I was a bit let down by the sound that I got from them. They were not as clear in the mid/highs as the Micca MB42x's I had on my desk but were able to go lower. I gave them a nice shot at my home office but for the space the Micca's were better. So I moved them off my desk and sat on them for a few weeks. One day at my office at work I was listening to some music and decided I needed some more low end. I thought about getting a small powered sub to get this done but then I remembered the SV's sitting at the house. I figured why not give them a shot...I'm really glad that I did. When I brought them into my work office I was blow away. These speakers sound amazing when you put some distance between you and the speakers. My desk at work is almost twice as deep as my desk at the house and it really made a difference in the sound. These guys are not great in the nearfield but they really shine if you can get them 5'+ away from you. I have been playing them in my office for about a month and the bass these are able to put out is impressive. They do need to break in to get the best sound out of them...this is not a myth these do sound much better than they did when I first pulled them out. If you looking for a cheap speaker that sounds good look at these. They are much better than the Polk T15's and Sony SS-B1000's that are currently sitting in a corner in my office.
