Buy these speakers and then when u upgrade buy their floorstanding speakers that's what I'm gonna do! Kiss klipsch goodbye!
Unbelievable speakers at this price point... I must have researched these speakers for 2-3 weeks before ordering a pair. I read many reviews that these speakers had no bass and were too bright for serious listening. After a 10 hour break in period I was amazed at the fact the speakers did get better from top to bottom. For anyone that says the SX6 does not produce bass, please get your ears checked... The bass is clean, tight and phenomenal for a speaker this size. I own a sub, but I have no interest in using it at this time. I may at some point, but for now I am really enjoying the speakers with no sub added... I did add one level of bass and left the treble flat through the tone controls on a Yamaha RX775 receiver. Sound stage is front, height and width is excellent. The speakers look nice, the vinyl wrap is pretty good for this price point. Overall, I am enjoying this speaker in its 2.0 music only configuration.
My speakers were delivered about 4 days ago. They sounded good initially, but sound even better after a four day break-in period. I bought these (cherry color) internet direct from Fluance. I was looking for smaller, rear channel speakers for a future surround system. I was curious about the Polk Audio OWM 3 wall mounted speakers. There are several, short 2 to 3 minute YouTube videos comparing the OWM 3 speakers to the SXS bookshelf speakers. The OWM 3s sounded OK, but the Fluance sounded much better, with a fuller, more robust sound. I’ve been curious about the Fluance brand for a few years and my curiosity finally got the better of me 10 days ago.
These speakers are very detailed and do best with middle mid-range to treble. I’ve watched several movies (2.0 stereo) with them including the classic WWII film “The Great Escape.” Human voices, including whispering, is very clear and intelligible. The Great Escape music film score sounded very good and detailed.
My major complaint is that the speaker cabinet is very large for a 5" mid-range/woofer. The energy CB-20 has about the same size, rear ported cabinet and has a 6.5" mid-range/woofer. I also have the BIC DV62SI that have a similar size cabinet and a six inch mid-range/woofer. The size of the mid-range/woofer affects performance! They would have a bigger presence and better lower mid-range and middle to upper bass with the larger speaker. A sub does help. I compensated for the lack of bass by adjusting the bass tone controls on my receiver. This helped some. Their size limits placement options. They are just about too large for placement on my bedroom computer desk (2 feet wide desk) They will fit on a 10 inch wide bookshelf. They need to be about 2 to 3 inches off the wall because of their rear port. I bought VideoSecu wall mounts for them to mount on the other side of my 120 sq foot bedroom/office.
Overall, these speakers are a good value and will work in both home theater and stereo applications.
I have spent more money than I'd like to admit over the years on big name speakers that don't always deliver. Fluance blows them all away in regards to sonic performance and value. Keep up the good work!
This is a second review for me , and ( NOT a "rep-or associated with FLUANCE ) -just a audio lover . Keep in mind -they might not advertise like "the others" is FOR the consumer--US!! And when I need more speakers, higher end I WILL go to them first,as these where for my secondary tv- receiver.
I just hooked up my sx6 speakers and I have to say for THIS price how they make a profit !!! To me ,the best $80 I ever spent. Quality ,and beautiful cabinets. Highly recomend .And ,the warranty NO ONE can lose
Just bought these speakers a couple of weeks ago. I am very happy with the performance of this small speaker. The base is impressive and the high notes very clear. Thanks Fluance for making this quality speaker available at such a low price!!
These speakers make my ears happy! :D
Please don't think less of me, but I was never able to adapt to the sound of the speaker, but the boxes are well made, and cheaper to buy than blank boxes for DIY. I've since added the Hivi F5 woofer, 18db slope crossover (Eminence), Fountek NeoCD1.0 Ribbon Tweeter, new gold plated post. I'm sure you're wondering why I'm writing this, and the answer is no cutting whatsoever. Even if you buy and don't like the sound, the boxes are very well built and can be used for an audiophile speaker (similar to the Swans M1b $2200). Either way, I thinks this speaker is a bargain for a multitude of reasons.
Wow, wow. Fantastic speakers. This is the best valued purchase I have done in years: Pure, crisp, perfect sound at an incredible low price for such very high quality speakers. Thanks guys, I am just amazed. I will get more of your other speaker systems for sure.
To be honest this is the best investment i ever made these bookshelf speaker sound so complete its heavenly i love how it looks in my bed room with my 37 in tv in the middle my set up uses a smsl sa 98e 160w amp with a sanskrit dac through optical wire that magical sounds coming out of these thing i should of buy 2 pairs and stack them on top of each other for a killer sound system
The sx6 is my first Fluance purchase I discovered the brand quite some time ago but hesitated on purchasing. The hesitation came from their price, these days quality costs, especially in the hifi world. Fluance has made me understand that is not always true, they do honestly create a more than satisfactory product with a real world price tag. I love listening to my sx6's. They are powered by a 25 watt/ channel T amp connected to a Yamaha avr running through the 2nd zone. I use Yamaha's ipod dock and listen to lossless and lossy files, and I must say the sx6's reproduce my music so well. Majority of my music is a urban genre but I also have artist like Elvis, Faith No More & Duck Sauce. I need a speakers that can play such a range of music artist, and the sx6's do not disappoint the bass they produce is tight and controlled, the highs are crisp without the being harsh which helps when you play a few songs @ 256kbps. I can honestly say I enjoy listening to my Fluance speakers more than my other Canadian speakers
that cost severel hundreds more than my sx6's. Great job Fluance you truly offer a quality product that rivals the competition in both sound and price.
There are people online (a few audio forums) that have not heard these speakers that say things like, "Fluance SX-6 are just white van speakers," "I bought the Pioneer SP-BS22LR and they are the best but I never heard the Fluance".... all kinds of crazy comments!
The fact of the matter is the Fluance are very, very good sounding speakers, period. I bought these in Dec. of 2013 and have been listening to them for a year. They do need some break in. There is a guy on YouTube that compares the Fluance SX-6 to the Pioneers and some Mica speakers. I listened to his review and bought the Fluance based on that video. I'm not sorry in the least bit.
I bought them solely for music (vinyl). My receiver is a 1970's Sansui 6060 and my turntable is a Dual 601 with a Shure M91ED cart and a JICO SAS stylus. Although I also use a Dayton Audio 8" sub with these Fluance SX-6's and let me tell you the sound is clear, concise and accurate. With proper placement you might find you don't need a sub for music... the bass is pretty good in these. I just like a tad bit more. That's why I only picked up an 8''sub. It just adds a bit more tight clear low end.
I think I paid right around $130.00 delivered. Buy a pair first and give an honest listen. If you don't like them send them back or flip them. If your on a budget and looking for sound that far surpasses the cost then give these a spin. They are very nice. Do they sound as good as good as the new JBL Studio Monitor 4312M II? Maybe not. But the Fluance SX-6 don't cost $1000.00 a pair either. I really like these SX-6's! :)
Purchased these on a whim and am so so glad that I did. I have been listening to music non stop for the last week and they keep improving. i am using them with a sub woofer connected to a Harmon Kardon receiver. I love finding quality at cheap prices, and these speakers just know it out of the park! If you have been sitting there debating on if you should get these or not, just do it. You can't go wrong at this price and you will be very very satisfied with the sound. You can listen to these babies for hours and not have your ears get "tired". The build quality is very high and the speakers were much heavier than I expected, I used 18 gauge wire initially, then got some 12 gauge wire as recommended and did notice a difference. Can't say enough good things about these speakers.
I was drawn to these speakers after viewing a Youtube video that compared them to several other brands and honestly, even through the camera's mic and my own computer speakers, I could tell that the Fluance were a better speaker. I purchased them through Amazon with free shipping. They were recieved within a week and super well packed. These are some classy looking speakers for the price. I was well aware of the break-in period so before I even got into serious listening, I loaded my mp3 player with a file that was nothing but a 40hz sine wave tone. With the volume turned up so the speaker was doing about 1/4 inch of excursion, I let them play for 24 hours.... nothing but bass. I have since done some serious listening and have found them very pleasant indeed. I am using them in a bi-amped system with an electronic crossover. I'm trying to find the ideal "bass to mid" crossover frequency and I'm currently experimenting in the 80hz to 120hz region. I'm finding that the lower point (80hz) gives better imaging for my Sonic Hologram. Raising the crossover to 120hz seems to give a better bass (for my particular room) but leaves the Sonic Hologram a bit fuzzy. Instrument location isn't as focused. I'm still experimenting on variables like distance from walls and some selective EQ. I noticed a slight dip in the 4khz to 8khz region so a little tweak there might come into play. Regardless of all reviews, these are still economy speakers. That being said, they are on the economy side of audiophile quality. These small giants are rivaling speakers many times their price bracket. I recommend them highly.See all reviews
