Solid, baby 1 people found this helpfulThis is a great quality table for a very reasonable price. Okay, it's not a $1000 table, but this will take care of all your needs unless you are the most sensitive listener. Anything beyond this is for people whose ears are far more focused and refined than mine. The unit itself is well built, solid, hefty ... when you hold it and set it up, you know it's good. And the stylus, balancing mechanism and counter weight combine to make an excellent audio mechanism. It took about 30 minutes of admittedly interrupted time to setup the table, level it and balance the arm. After which, I played some of my dad's old vinyl that I hadn't heard in 30 or more years, and everything played smoothly. Pairs with the PA10 pre-amp and a pair of quality bookshelf speakers, listening to those old tunes brought be back to my childhood. I shall admit a nostalgic bias for the music. But this is a great deck, and one that can be expanded upon if the owner so desires.

Replaced my 40 year old Phase Linear turntable 1 people found this helpfulThis was my first new turntable purchase in 40 years. I really Loved the Phase Linear turntable I was using, but it was needing constant maintenance to keep it working. The Fluance RT83 looks and sounds great. Glad I updated my equipment.

The RT83 is an Excellent Turntable 1 people found this helpfulArrived quickly and was in perfect condition. Setup was a little rough till I watched the how to on calibrating the tone arm. After that easy and quick System is well made and sounds good. Lows are low highs are high, mid's are perfect. The turntable ha a good sound. I will be updating the platter to High Density Frosted Acrylic Platter. I did try a cork platter cover and a leather platter cover both improved the sound very well. I want the acrylic platter based on the reviews I've read. Update. The platter was replaced with the High Density Frosted Acrylic Platter. Amazing sound. Next will be updating the stylus to the Nagaoka JN-P110 Replacement Stylus, I like the warm vintage sound. Essentially my turntable will become the RT 85. Could not be happier with my choice. It's an excellent turntable for the money, and my vinyl sounds amazing.
