Wow! I watched and read a lot of reviews before I made my purchase. I am very happy with what I chose. The setup was pretty straightforward, and I had everything up and running in less than an hour. I loved the ability to start with the RT82 and build it up to an RT85. I did a lot of research on the difference in stylus options and I'm very happy with the 2M Blue that the 84 ships with. I now wish I would have done a bit more research on the platter (RT84 with an Aluminum platter with rubber mat vs RT85 with an acrylic platter). However, I feel that the difference in sound is far less noticeable than what you get in different stylus options. This is my first turntable upgrade (from a suitcase victrola), and I love it. My friends that have come over to listen all have the same reaction, "WOW, that sounds awesome!" I agree. Not one moment of disappointment, except the time it takes to find new records to listen to!

Mario C November 12, 2022

This is the best turntable for this price point. The ortofon 2M blue alone is $239. The table is heavy and sturdy and well constructed. If taken care of properly it will last a lifetime.

Steven L. November 2, 2022 Audiophile - 5 Years Georgia, United States

I owned a Fluance RT81 long ago !! There has since many upgrades since !! I just bought the RT84 and am absolutely amazed just how good it sounds!! I will get an Headshell and cartridge mounted "ATVM95ML" and perhaps a "ATVM95SH" just swap out Headshell and weigh and play

Pierre September 14, 2022 Audiophile - 20+ Years Quebec, Canada

I had a Rega RP1 and this turntable is better in everyway. It looks better and it sounds better. I'm very please with my purchase. You don't have to pay more. It sounds great.

Uncle R August 12, 2022

This turntable has performed excellent so far. It was a little fiddley to set up but patience is the key. For a nice quality turntable it does require setting the tone arm balance and anti skip. No complaints.

Bart T August 6, 2022

Updated to the RT84 from my B&O Beogram RX2 and am very satisfied. Very easy setup and I encourage you to take the time to balance the cartridge before use. If you're a beginner, look it up online and watch the Fluance videos. Easy to do but take the time since this will define the sound for you. Sound is excellent and worth the blue 2M cartridge that comes with the 84 and 85 without question. I went with the 84 instead of the 85 simply because the platter is the only difference. This deck revitalized some old records that I cleaned and they sounded great and much better than before - old Kiss, Angel City, Queensryche, Dokken era stuff that sounds alive again. I love vinyl so if you have a decent collection don't hesitate about this unit. Great deck.

Garth, C July 28, 2022 Audiophile - 20+ Years Maine, United States

Have had this unit over one week now and couldn't be more pleased. Easy to set up, my 20 year old son immediately noticed the sound difference from our Bang & Olufsen.

Pros: Great sound, good call putting the Otofon 2M Blue stylus on the RT84! Looks gorgeous.

Cons: Not really a con but we have our turntable located under our TV in an entertainment center. Everything at the base of the tone arm mount, including the lift lever... is black. In low light it's difficult to see the tone arm lever which is reeeeeeeaaaalllly close to the tone arm. Would be helpful to have a visual indicator on the lever to see it better and/or move it slightly away from being so close to the tone arm.

A fantastic value for an entry level audiophile turntable. Keep in mind they offer numerous options. They are all essentially the same turntable, it's the stylus/cartridge that differs in each. If you can afford to step up to the Blue2 cart it will absolutely be worth it.

LADORA J April 10, 2022

Sounds awesome- easy to setup and use!

Vinyl means a lot to me. Even though digital quality is near perfect. I am happiest playing a record. I’ve owned turntables for 45 years. I’m not rich so this table was an act of reverent commitment for me. When I dropped the needle for the first time tears of joy welled up in my eyes. I know this is not a helpful technical review, but if you love vinyl, don’t hesitate. It’s an amazing turntable at this price point.

Jim H February 17, 2022 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years Colorado, United States

The auto stop feature is not reliable at all. You’ll shorten the life of cartridge and it’s expensive to replace. Customer service took two weeks to get back to me and no live person could ever be reached. I wanted to change my order to the rt85 but slow customer service made that impossible.

R.Tuner February 12, 2022

Great Needle and Awesome sound for the Money.

My RT84 is my first turntable after almost 20 years with none. I never had even a decent unit - hence I'll call myself an Intermediate lister even though my ears assisted for 4 years in a top recording studio in the area (then recording on my own) and listeneing to music for 40 years. All my dormant vinyl , 6 storage boxes full and all the space it was taking up un-used. No, I will not take the advice of by brother-in-law, get rid of it all and sign on to streaming services. It's not the same. So after a month of research I made the 84 my choice. So, in under an hour, with great balancing instructions, and with my OM2 Blue cartridge seemingly already aligned - a big plus for me, I'm already cranking out Return to Forever and Rush!! I am on CLOUD 9!!! Next up, Mozart? Thank you Fluance.

Mike H January 21, 2022

Great value for the price--fantastic packaging to ensure safe shipment. Great sound quality for the price point.

Quick shipping, easy set-up, looks nice, quiet, stable speed, Ortofon Blue sounds nice, easy to use, very useful autostop

I waited way to long to purchase an audiophile turn table. After a month of research, I am blown away by the quality of my Fluance RT84.

Peter M September 8, 2021 Audiophile - 20+ Years New Jersey, United States

Wow, I’m amazed at the quality of this turntable. Directions are awesome and are easy to follow. If there’s any confusion you can go to their videos for help. This is an amazing turntable table for this price point. Highly recommended. Oh and the best part you can upgrade your turntable. Which I plan to do shortly.

George W August 1, 2021

This is the second turntable I've bought in this century, a HUGE upgrade from my first "Sony pslx-300usb"! I'm a "growing " audiophile and this deck makes my "mediocre " records sound great! Bad records, ah they sound bad regardless of what you play them on! My top quality "audiophile " records sound like pure heaven! This deck don't play around, it's for real! Their able to offer this at a good price because the "dust cover " and "wallwart" were made in china! But I assure you the rest was made in "Taiwan" , and this sucker is solid at 14.1 pounds! Pair it with a "schitt mani" preamp and your chariot awaits! I'm absolutely beaming about this very hi-fi product!

Chris A July 11, 2021

This turntable, hands down, is the best turntable one can get for its price. Fluance is an excellent brand and I highly recommend!

I have one myself, and bought this for a friend as a gift. We both love it! Great quality for the price.

Abe H July 1, 2021 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years Florida, United States

I purchased the RT84 on 08/2019, the PA10 High Fidelity Phono Preamp on 09/19, and the acrylic platter on 04/20. The Preamp is connected to a Parasound HALO A21+ amplifier, and a Denon receiver manages the volume. The speakers are Wharfedale Jade 3. I play the RT84 from 20 to 25 hours a week, and I play a great variety of genres. After almost 2 years of daily playing, I can say that the RT84 continues to perform way beyond its price point. The reproduction is rich and clean, the sound staging is superb, resonance is nonexistent. The RT84 continues to outperform my other 2 turntables, one of which is twice the RT84 price, the other, more than three times the price. This is just a great product.

Kerry B May 22, 2021 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years Minnesota, United States

I replaced a music hall mmf 5.1se with ortofon blue cartridge and this table sounds better I added the acrylic plater. Very beautiful table. The bamboo is flawless. Very detailed sound. My system is audio research ls-8 line stage, Vincent phono pre, bryston power amp and Tekton lores never heard it sound so good. Thanks Fluance keep up the excellent quality.

Renee M April 15, 2021

Super happy with this table. A low-end Hi-Fi table and cartridge. Would recommend for all but the most critical audio professors. Great value for anyone that doesn’t want to drop $1.000+ on a turntable but wants to hear their albums in a new way.

Lorenzo October 8, 2020

I love this turntable. It sounds great paired with my pluto preamp. The sound is very natural overall. I upgraded the platter to the available acrylic which didn't do much in terms of sound quality but it looks great.

Chuck O September 30, 2020 Advanced Listener - 3 Years South Dakota, United States

It has been a lot of years since I owned a turntable, but l spent many hours online looking and learning about the choices. Although I didn’t know anything about the Fluance RT 84, I kept coming back to it. Although this unit was a step above what I needed or wanted to spend, I took the plunge. Boy am I glad I did. Friends only compliment the looks and it performs even better than I had hoped. I just love everything about it and don’t have a single knock on it. If the RT84 is in your budget, buy it. Compromise elsewhere.

Ronald D September 29, 2020

I love this turn table. Very easy to operate. Plus the seller must have made a mistake on the price. The RT84 sells for $450.00 and I bought mine for $350.00. Gotta love that. Fluance makes a very good turn table. Go to you tube and do your home work. For the price you cant beat it for quality, sound and ease of use. You will not go wrong with this turn table. I cant say enough about this turn table.

Haley F September 18, 2020 Novice Listener - 1 Year California, United States

I bought this turn table as a gift for my boyfriend, he was thrilled to open it. We have it hooked up to his Klipsch table top speaker. We are both novice users but it sounds great, was relatively easy to set up, and looks beautiful in his media center. There was a slight bend in the rubber mat when we opened it which was the only disappointment. I probably would have gone with the acrylic disk if I were to purchase again.

Trevor B September 9, 2020 Intermediate Listener - 2 Years Ohio, United States

Best table turner in the market !!!

Special K August 20, 2020

I bought this turntable and immediately upgraded it to an RT-85 with the purchase of the acryllic platter. I am not kidding when I say this turntable with the Ortofon Blue cartridge is as good or better than turntables twice or even three times the price. I mean it. The soundstage, the absolute quiet, the channel separation, and the bass and high frequencies are just outstanding, not to mention the overall quality of the product. Honestly, I do not know how they do it. I have listened to many, many so-called high end turntables with excellent cartridges, and really this is all you need.

Derek August 19, 2020 Advanced Listener - 3 Years Ohio, United States

I love this TT. Got it on sale for $379 and It is worth double the price. In an age of compressed lifeless music this TT brings depth and nuance back to music that you can feel in your soul.

Thorn R August 19, 2020 Audiophile - 20+ Years Colorado, United States

Very quiet. The Ortofon 2M has a better high end than my previous AT cartridge and seems to track well on the few warped discs I've tried. I decided it was time for a new turntable when I realized I hadn't bought one since about 1964 when I saved up all my paper route money to buy an Acoustic Research :-)

michael c July 16, 2020

so being an old fart like I am I still think vinyl has the best sound. this TB is just fabulous. I could hear absolutely no rumble nice heavy platter great ortofon blue cartriged it just rocks big time. so just stop reading this and click buy it now you will not regret it

Christopher L July 15, 2020

What can I say about this record player, absolutely think this was a wise purchase. The setup was pretty easy and the sound quality is amazing. Would defiantly suggest this player to anyone looking to upgrade.

Tyson V June 18, 2020 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years California, United States

It's a very nice quality turntable. It plays flawlessly albums that my old turntable would skip on this one plays perfect

Matt B June 12, 2020

I spent a bunch of time looking for the best record player to dip my toes into vinyl. I would consider the Fluance line (basically any model, RT82 and above) the best place to start. I picked it because they're upgradable and was originally going to go with the RT83, but the 84 happened to be on sale for a few bucks more. The platter works, the tone arm seems to be well made with good materials, the cover is really easy to install and the whole thing is pretty plug and play. There are three legs on the bottom, instead of four - which actually makes it easier to get the thing level since you're not fighting with two legs on either side. The whole thing is well constructed and looks nice enough.I also considered some of the Audio Technica options and U-turn's turntables. Both of those options also looked great, but something about the design and finish of the RT84 fit me a little better. I can't speak to the sound compared to other record players since this is my first, but after spinning the first few LP's I was grinning ear to ear and super happy with my purchase.I was happy enough to come write my first Amazon review after 10-odd years of buying crap on here. Only I didn't come write the review because that was about 6 weeks ago. It wasn't until I had a small issue swapping out my needle (just to try something different) and I asked a question on the Fluance website. It wasn't much, but they responded quickly and gave me a bunch of info about different needle compatibility. The point at which the company, their product and their customer service were all awesome led me to actually write this.If you're looking for a record player you won't regret buying this.

Geoff R June 8, 2020

Pros: easy to setup, great servo motor, sounds great, easy to useCons: dust cover prone to scratches (better off not using it). lacks adjustability (no vta on headshell and can't adjust tonearm height). also I'd prefer if these came without a cartridge so you can add your own.I don't think the ortofon 2m is a great match for this table. I recommend to get this table on sale and sell the cartridge at which point the table should cost around $180. Then add a Nagaoka MP-110 or Denon DL-110. IMO this is a more cost effective way to get great sound. I do wish the arm and headshell were more adjustable and higher quality. But these are worth getting on sale, for what you get. If you change headshells you can get vta adjustment, but you may have to use shims to get the height correct.

Ben H May 20, 2020

My first record player and I think it sounds better than cd's. I got an 80's equalizer, Onkyo EQ-35, instead of the preamplifier and its hooked up to an Onkyo 838 with 1990's Infinity SM series surround speakers. I have incredible clarity with this set up and I'm in love with record players now

Gary C. May 13, 2020 Intermediate Listener - 20+ Years Pennsylvania, United States

Excellent for the money. It wa so good i immediately traded up for th RT85

Bob Allard May 5, 2020 Intermediate Listener - 20+ Years Georgia, United States

This is only my second turntable in the past 45 years. It was very easy to setup and having the auto-stop at end of play is a excellent option. The three leg design seemed odd but made the leveling process super easy! great design.

Roger A May 2, 2020 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years British Columbia, Canada

when purchasing the turntable on the Fluance website when it asked for my address, a prompt would appear saying that it was reformatting my mailing address after I had typed it in, when it did this it would strip away my unit number, as I live in a town home. This made me nervous as its an expensive purchase, I contacted the only person seemingly available on Fluance the facebook page and told them, there is a place to type in unit on the website but it keep erasing it. They said this shouldn't happen but it should be fine. I figured out if I put my unit number on the same line as the street box it didn't strip the unit number out. A week and a half later UPS kept changing the delivery date finally stating that there was an issue with my address. I spent hours trying to figure out how to get the turntable as UPS does not have anyone you can talk to. Finally through a series of voice prompts I cancelled the delivery and said I would pick it up at the airport. I then spent several hours in a coronavirus line at the airport waiting. The turntable sounds good.

I absolutely love the ease of this turntable! The RT-84 is a stellar purchase for anyone looking to take that leap into vinyl collecting. Such pure and crisp sound for the price point! Cannot be beat. Go buy one. Now!

Jon E April 24, 2020 Advanced Listener - 5 Years Wisconsin, United States

I’m enjoying the Fluance RT84 from the quick delivery, ease of set up right down to the outstanding audio performance. Best bang for the buck in my opinion!! This tt is mated to Marantz PM7000N and playing through Audioquest CV-4 wire to Focal 906 bookshelves. The perfect match!

B. B April 20, 2020

Please, if you're going to buy a turntable, don't buy this one! I ordered this on March 22nd. It took me over a month to even get any response to when it was coming. Called Fluance, tried to call Amazon and they are not answering their phones. I finally sent it back, they issued me my refund, but in gift card, not returning to my band account! There is none to talk to. The turntable IMO is a POC. The belt-driven motor will not keep the same speed 33 1/3, it fluctuates. this is not good for a belt-driven motor. Please there ARE BETTER TURNTABLES THIS IN THIS PRICE RANGE! Thank you...

Erik April 19, 2020 Intermediate Listener - 11 Years Colorado, United States

This turntable has taken my experience to the next level. Replaced an Audio Technica and does not disappoint. The depth to the music is just insane by comparison.

Diego D March 31, 2020 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years Massachusetts, United States

The RT84 is incredible as soon as you open the packaging. You can literally feel the quality pouring out of the box. After spending the better part of 2 decades with an ATLP-60, this baby is a masterpiece. A quick run through with the set up instructions to set up the belt, the platter, balance the tone arm, etc and we're off and running. Naturally I chose my favorite and arguably one of the best live albums of all time to be the first played on the table (ABB - At Fillmore East '71) and it did not disappoint. The RT84 is an incredible TT for fair price. It's a quality build that seems like it will be a part of my set up for many, many years to come.

TL March 27, 2020

Really impressed with the rt84. Have been using a Mitsubishi lt22 linear tracking I bought in 1984, and thought it was great, until found this. The rt84 is not automatic, I didn't find any available that had good cartridges, and others couldn't recommend one. The cueing lever is easy to use, raise and up and you just move it across to align with edge of song you want. Another reviewer pointed out to check switch in back if platter doesn't turn when powered up. That is nice, it starts spinning when stylus is over grooves, and stops the platter 30 seconds after record reads inner groove. You still have to raise cueing lever manually, not a big deal, since days of putting stack of 45s on record player and letting them drop one by one are gone. Probably a good thing, too. I really am getting used to this, not automatic, maybe semi-automatic? Not totally manual, not that much of an audiophile. I consider myself audiophile adjacent, maybe living in next neighberhood. On to sound. I had replaced my needle on Mitsubishi recently with new at95e, so was happy with it, but the ortofon blue sounds much better to me. My ears aren't what they were, drove trucks 35 years, avid shooter who didn't start with ear protection, so have constant ringing, so not best person to judge the sound quality. I can say I can hear more instruments, actually pull some out I had never heard on 50 year old albums. All sounds are clearer, and more distinct, and makes me smile when listening now. My wife has hearing problems, and she even heard a difference. Now the value. Was upset when reading other reviews. Amazon had some of fluance players on sale 3 months before I bought mine. Sounds like it was $100 off or so. I was upset I missed out, but looked on description and saw where they had new and used at lower prices. I got mine for $5 over half price! It's piano black, and description said damaged box. I figured it if it was too bad, could always return it. Pleasantly surprised to see damage was 2 corners were barely crumpled, and the player is double boxed, with Styrofoam in between! Original labels were cut off, but original tape was intact on outer box. Inner box was perfect, player was in original bags, never been touched. Pristine condition. I won the lottery on this thing. If I sent it back and ordered new ortofon blue cartridge for old Mitsubishi, would have spent $8 more than this complete rt84!The quality, some people knock on rt84. The arm, especially. I'm sure it is breakable, but this is not a toy. In normal use, I have no doubts it will last. I have no children who will use it, but a 2 year old could break most turntable arms, I imagine. Some people dislike Finance turntable because of limited upgradeability. For me, I can get an acrylic platter for $120. I will never upgrade the arm, might replace or upgrade cartridge if it wears out, but ortofon bronze is $440, $10 less than list price of complete rt84, and reviewers say it's better, but now we are in the land of not a big jump in performance for a large amount of money. I am very happy with this turntable as it sits. I feel it is one the best turntables under $1000.

Alex March 27, 2020 Novice Listener - 1 Year Georgia, United States

I am not an audiophile by any means but my only experience with vinyl before this was old thrift store hand me downs. I never knew vinyl could be so clear sounding, I always thought the crackles and pops were an inherent flaw of the format. Well worth the investment.

Steven S March 26, 2020

This is a very nicely built turntable that has a beautiful classic look. Customer service was top notch to deal with a missing rubber piece. Great bang for the buck.

Fred J March 24, 2020 Intermediate Listener - 20+ Years British Columbia, Canada

Over the past year I read as many turntable reviews as I could find. I found Fluance was almost always noted as a contender in my price range. I was considering the RT83, but when they added the the Ortofon Blue cartridge to the RT84 I was convinced to get that model.

Delivery was quick. I was a little bit concerned about setting it up, but there's a great YouTube video and it actually came together easily. The little levelling tool is great.

So it's well reviewed, came quickly, and was easy to assemble. Now, it looks great and sounds lovely. I had a vintage Toshiba direct drive, and this really does sound noticeably richer. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Justin M March 22, 2020 Audiophile - 20+ Years North Carolina, United States

This is a beautiful looking and wonderful sounding turntable. I've upgraded from an older vintage Sony model. The Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge reveals unheard details in comparison with the cartridge used on my old Sony. The RT-84 is also much more aesthetically pleasing.

Setup took about 30 minutes from opening the box to playing records. Everything was well packaged.

A couple of minor gripes. Due to the high gloss, there are micro scratches in the finish and the dust cover. They're only visible when looking close up in the right lighting. Also, the hinges are a bit creaky, but hopefully they break-in over time.

Otherwise this is a great unit, especially for the price.

Elizabeth R March 20, 2020 Intermediate Listener - 12 Years California, United States

I recently set up my RT-84 and am super happy. It's gorgeous and sounds great. It's exactly what I was expecting based on its online representation and I'm glad I took the leap.

Seamus S March 19, 2020 Advanced Listener - 2 Years New York, United States

This turntable was very straight forward to set up and is an absolute joy to listen to. The Ortofon Blue cartridge makes a night and day difference over the cartridge on my previous turntable.

Bill P March 18, 2020 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years Georgia, United States

I was not familiar with Fluance products until I began researching turntables. A small group of manufacturers, including Fluance, consistently received favorable ratings in online reviews for products in my price range. The RT83 met my needs in a stylish package and included the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge at a reasonable price.

THEN, on the day I planned to order it, Fluance put their RT84 ON SALE! I bit. For a modest increase I upgraded to the 2M Blue. (If the 2M Red were a hot fudge sundae, the Blue would be the same, but with nuts and a cherry on top.)

My RT84 arrived well packaged and in prefect condition. Setup was straightforward. I paired it with a phono preamp found on Craigs List, an Adcom preamp & amp, and Monitor Audio bookshelf speakers.

First Music was Carly Simon's Torch followed by Willie Nelson's Stardust. They never sounded so good. At some point I stopped listening analytically and simply immersed myself in the moment. The Fluance RT84 just became transparent and got out of the way of the music. Then came the big test – Horowitz in Moscow. I believe a piano is likely the hardest instrument to accurately record and play back. This is where the RT84 won me over. The sound stage grew noticeably, and closing my eyes, I could almost believe there was a Steinway Grand in the room with me.

Highly recommended.

NOTE I ordered the walnut finish as I felt that fingerprints on the gloss black might become an issue. However, the walnut is every bit as glossy (and fingerprinty) so don't let that be a deciding factor. Use the white gloves provided by Fluance for assembly.

AMooberry March 10, 2020

I upgraded from an Audio Technica LP120 I have had for 10 years and modded the heck out of. The Audio Technica was sounding good after all the work I did, but the Fluance RT-84 is in a class of its own. I set it up and could hear more detail, but it just wasn't as dynamic as the LP120, then I switched the Fluance rubber mat for the Hudson Hi-fi acrylic mat (bought here on Amazon) I had on the LP120 and it opened the RT-84 up like you wouldn't believe. I don't know why, but this thing sings with that cheap acrylic mat.I tried different cartridges on it and the Nagaoka MP110 was good, the Ortofon Blue that came with it was better and the Nagaoka MP200 took the best of the MP110 and Ortofon Blue and was easily the winner, but that is to be expected with the price point of the 3 cartridges tested. If you get this turntable and add a cheap acrylic mat or the acrylic platter from Fluance it will perform very well, just no you have to have a phono pre-amp for this table. I use and recommend the Schiit Mani for around $130 here on Amazon. And remember if your speakers and amp (not pre-amp) are not good, you will only get so much out any turntable. Pair this with a decent set of speakers and amp and you will be happy.

Amazon Customer March 8, 2020

I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this turntable. I have a very small modest setup. I don't want all the gear laying around collecting dust.I am amazed at the quality of this turntable right out of the box. The sound is incredible. I have another setup and was so disappointed with it I sold it and decided to put the money towards a turntable that was not only getting great reviews but RAVE reviews. I also am so glad I bought the RT84. I was looking for that clarity and beautiful range in sound. This turntable really delivers for the price. It is an incredible value for the money. With all the tech out now it's tough to justify the price unless the value is delivered with such a force that you literally are speechless. This product not only exceeded my expectations it has left me slack jawed with its ability to render the finest detail in the music. As a designer I love products that not only meet your needs but continually exceed your expectations. The care in detail is unmatched.I absolutely LOVE this turntable!!

Disclaimer - While I have listened to music through turntables previously, this is my first personal turntable.Setup:The unit was packaged very nicely and in perfect condition. Putting the thing together took maybe 15-20 minutes and it's very intuitive. If the manual doesn't do the trick, there's a 5 minute video Fluance posted on YouTube that'll get you going fast. Setting the counterweight for tracking force was probably the biggest thing to be careful of. But still - even for a newbie like me, it's very easy. Don't be intimidated. The manual comes with a protractor for cartridge alignment.Keep in mind - You will need a phono preamp for her if your receiver doesn't have one already. I went with the Art DJPre ii.Performance:I'm a self admitted noobie here so the only real comparisons Incan draw is from streaming services. That said, I have heard other lower end turntables and this thing blows them away. Hard to say if it's the turntable or other elements, or a combination of... there are many variables. What I can say with almost certainty is that the turntable is not the weakest link in my chain. Here's my setup - Fluance RT84 > Art DJPre ii > Yamaha RX-V383 > Infinity TSS-SAT800I needed something with audiophile production, delicate passages, intricate acoustics, and deeply intense interludes. I knew right away which record I needed to play first. The self-titled Storm Corrosion 2LP. I am not dissapointed AT ALL. With the Ortofone blue, I am hearing intricacies inaudible in standard streaming, as if I were listening to a live show in my own living room. The motor is virtually inaudible during even the quietest passages. It's bright, punchy, and deep in all the right spots. If you're looking to get into vinyl as a serious music lover, or even just as a passive hobbiest, I highly recommend this table.

This is my first hi-fi turntable and I could not be happier with it.

Wonderful wonderful record player esp for an old school music afficionado who gave up on vinyl with the advent of cds in the mid 80s. I am reborn thanks to this turntable and esp because Fluance fits this turntable and the slightly higher priced RT85 with a considerably better cartridge the Ortofon 2M Blue. This cartridge makes a huge difference in the sound quality and to be sure most of the new vinyl pressings are superior to what was available back in the day. I'm a vinyl junkie again, have regular vinyl listening gatherings, it is not only back it is better than ever. Best $350 i ever spent.

I have been reviewing many different types of turntable for the past several months in order to get into the world of vinyl and continually came back to Fluance products. All the reviews I read and watched on you tube spoke of it’s high quality and affordable price point for the beginner like myself to the seasons listener. This turntable will get you into vinyl with many years of listening without having to worry about trading up. The website is very user friendly and you can compare their products to find the best turntable for you. I purchased the RT 84 turntable as well as the signature series HiFi two-way bookshelf surround sound speakers. Both are truly amazing in sound and in appearance. The sound quality is comparable to my Bose system. I decided to call a representative from Fluance to ask a few question and to place my order and she was very professional and took the time to answer my questions with no up sales. Overall I am very happy with my decision to purchase Fluance products and will return to purchase more of their products.

I started out with an AT LP120 USB. It was a great initial turntable for me, allowing me to upgrade the stylus and preamp while learning more about record players and vinyl.
I began looking into other ways to upgrade, but finally decided to sell my LP 120 and get a new turntable. I did a fair amount of research on the U-Turn Orbit, Rega Planar Series, and Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. I decided to go with Fluance RT84 because of all the great reviews that I saw and read. It was very hard for me to even find anything really negative.
Features of the RT84 that I like:
2M Blue stylus! No discernible motor noise compared to the LP120, Very stable, Adjustable feet to balance plinth, Anti-skate works! Auto stop
Things I don't necessary like:
Can't adjust the VTA, Dust cover is scratched- not sure from what but if it was me, it scratched very easily because I've been really careful with it.
Overall, this thing is a great value- feels sturdy, sounds nice, looks awesome. Wish I just invested in a Fluance right off the bat.

I love this turntable, it performs well, and the Ortofon Blue sounds amazing

Albert J February 18, 2020

Great value. $350 for a rurntable with a pre- mounted Ortofon Blue. Tracks well, easy to balance the three feet on your table/desk/shelf etc...... you would need to spend double to get something a little better. Stictly manual, be careful.

Matthew I February 14, 2020

Fluance is making turntables that could sell for twice the price and still be good value. The RT84 with the Ortofon Blue 2M cartridge will breathe new life into your vinyl collection. A guilt free purchase to be sure!

I absolutely love this turntable! The ortofon blue cartridge is a clear improvement over the ortofon red (also very good). Product is easy to set up. Bought the 84 without acrylic platter. Hard to believe there is a significant improvement.

Everything I wanted in a turntable! I replaced a Dual 701/Ortofon Super OM 10 with this and couldn't be more pleased. It is beautiful, easy to set up, and soundstage and clarity are vastly improved.

Love this turntable! Solid design all the way around. Excellent sound for this price range!

Podboydp February 6, 2020

Incredible sound quality. Got the 84 on sale for $380. I don't think there is a better turntable for the money.

I was looking for a turntable upgrade and decided on the RT84. I was looking for a turntable with a detatchable headshell and height adjustable feet. The Ortofon Blue cartridge is a plus and the high quality wood veneer finish looks great. As for the sound, well, I think this turntable sounds fantastic. Quiet with a deep, wide soundstage. I definitely do not regret this purchase. I will eventually upgrade to the acrylic platter. Caught this on sale for $382.00 USD, but even at full retail, it's a steal. Highly recommended!

We recently decided to get our opera records out of storage and set up a sound system based on a Sonos Amp. We chose the Fluance RT84 because it offered a phenomenal value in design, finish and Ortofon 2 M Blue cartridge. Our records sound glorious! Also, Fluance’s technical support was very responsive

This R 84T was an amazing Christmas gift from my loving wife and family, now I just can’t stop playing vinyl. Would now love to try the acrylic platter to see if it makes this turntables sound even better.

I haven't had very good luck with Fluance turntables. Some years ago I purchased an RT-81 shortly after that model was first released. The RPM speed was audibly too fast, making singers sound almost like chipmunks. Back then there was no way to adjust the speed on the RT-81 so I returned it for a refund. Fast forward to early 2019. I began reading the highly positive reviews on the new line of Fluance turntables. I was especially intrigued by the inclusion of a speed sensor to guarantee proper rotational speed. So about a month ago I finally decided to order an RT-84 in piano black. The first thing I did was check the speed accuracy of my new turntable using the Platterspeed app and a test record. The speed was pretty much dead on at 33.3, and the flutter measurement was low as well. So far so good. But when I attempted to swap headshells, I noticed that the screw-on mechanism at the end of the tonearm did not want to accept the new headshell very easily. It took some work to get it connect properly. I found this to be unacceptable since I swap headshell/cartridges pretty frequently, so I ended up exchanging it for another RT-84, this time in walnut (which wasn't as pretty as the piano black but was more immune to finger prints).Again I first tested the speed accuracy using the Platterspeed app. The speed accuracy was nearly dead on, but this time the flutter measurement was bad, at least 3 or 4 times what the spec sheet claimed. I tried several more measurements and the flutter results were consistently too high. So I reached out to Fluance for an explanation. After waiting several days for a response, I finally received a somewhat impersonal, cookie-cutter email beginning with "We're sorry you're having trouble with your Fluance turntable... yada, yada, yada". The email suggested that I leave the turntable platter spinning overnight to see if that helped solve the problem. However by then I had already logged several hours of play which had resulted in some improvement in the flutter although the readings were still too high for my taste (and definitely higher that the specs claimed). In the end, I decided to return this RT-84 too.

Amazing unit. Looks and sounds beautiful

Liang-Jang C January 16, 2020

Highly recommended. The most difficult to set this machine it to put the cover in position. You may use a pair of scissors to expand it, then let it clip in side, later move it in position. ( See my photos. )It's made in Taiwan. The factory also produces Thorens audio turntables.

Upgraded from a vintage turntable with an older model Ortofon cartridge. The old one served me well for many years but the sound of the RT-84 with the Blue is simply stunning. I listen to a lot of jazz and the great singer-songwriters. Sounds like James Taylor or Cannonball Adderley is in my living room. Sound is crystal clear. Every nuance is right there in a wonderful sound stage.

I had been idly contemplating adding a turntable to my bedroom system, and when the Fluance RT84 went on sale during the holiday period, I couldn't resist. The turntable arrived carefully and exquisitely packaged, complete with white gloves and a level. Assembly took a bit of time and patience, but if someone as fumble-fingered as I can manage it, almost anyone can. It's hard to imagine a better sounding turntable for the price I paid; even at its regular price, the turntable is an excellent buy. The Ortofon 2M Blue is an excellent cartridge in its price range (though not universally loved, it should be said). It's rare to find a cartridge of this caliber on a turntable in this price range. The sound it produces is clear and clean; it extracts an impressive level of detail from the record's grooves. All in all, it makes for a very enjoyable listen. The RT84 is not a giant-killer. I have a Rega Planar 3 in my living room, and it's just all-around better. The difference is not as great as the price difference would suggest, though. The differences are most noticeable not in the sound (though the Rega, with Elys2 cartridge, does sound a bit better to my ears) but in materials and build quality. The tonearm cue on the Fluance feels cheap and flimsy--it functions, but it's not a pleasure to operate, and I wonder about its long-term durability. A similar (though less dramatic) difference in quality can be felt when moving the tonearm into a playing position. At its regular price, the Fluance RT84 competes with Rega's entry turntable, the Planar 1. The Planar 1's parts are, unsurprisingly, cheaper than the Planar 3's, but it's still a quality turntable. If I had to choose between the two, though, I might well choose the Fluance. Certainly the Ortofon 2M Blue is better than the Planar 1's cartridge (I say this as the former owner of an RP1, the Planar 1's predecessor). The biggest advantage that the Planar 1 has is a better upgrade path--but that can mean pouring a lot of money into something that started life as an entry-level turntable. The RT84, by contrast, is nearly maxed out. Fluance will sell you the acrylic platter that comes stock with the RT85, but that's about it. It's possible to upgrade the cartridge--indeed, changing cartridges is easier on the Fluance than on a Rega. But given the inevitable limitations of the Fluance's tonearm at this price-point, it probably doesn't make sense to invest much more in a better cartridge--the tonearm won't be able to take full advantage.A final note: If you finish assembly, put a record on the platter, turn the power on, and notice that the turntable is not spinning, don't panic--it just means that the turntable's auto-stop switch is set to "on." As soon as you move the tonearm to begin playing, the turntable will spin. (I forgot about this and had a brief moment of panic before I realized what was going on).(One more final note: I have the piano black, not the walnut, as that was the model that was on sale. It's a very attractive finish, though it does show dust and fingerprints.)

The Fluance RT84 turntable is a great turntable. Excellent design (Canada) and quality construction (Taiwan) for a reasonable price. Setup is simple and no tools are required. The owner's manual is well written with plenty of pictures making assembly easy. The hardest part of a turntable setup is mounting the cartridge in the head shell; this is already done for you at the factory. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to put this turntable together. The performance of this turntable is well above average for turntable at this price. The platter is dead silent and smooth when spinning, and the tone arm and needle drop perform very well. The supplied Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge is a perfect match and sounds great. The RT84 is easy to upgrade the to their top of the line model (RT85) by simply swapping the platter. The RT85 heavy acrylic platter is available from Fluance for about $120.Two things to remember about this turntable... First, there is NO built in phono preamp. You have to either have an external phono preamp, or your other equipment needs to have this built in. Second, even though this turntable has an auto shutoff feature, you still need to consider it as a manual turntable. When the tonearm reaches the end of the record, the platter will continue to spin for about 30 seconds and then stop. I consider this a "safety net" for times when I can't get right over to the turntable at the end of the record to lift the tone arm.Bottom line... I recommend this turntable as a good buy and great performer, and I would buy it again. I used to be a manger at a stereo store (not big box) so I have seen and assembled a whole lot of different turntables.

A am very happy with this turntable ... from its beautiful look to the warm sound. the blue ortofon cartridge gives. The only minor flaw that I see is that the tone arm takes too long to lift at the end of the record. I hope that the stylus isn't being damaged. I still give it 5 stars anyway.

Easy set up, beautiful finish and high quality components. Unbeatable value, what’s not to like

Walter M. September 14, 2019 Advanced Listener - 20+ Years Texas, United States

I purchased an RT85 after they finally came back in stock. It had a very noisy back foot. Any movement of the turntable caused this foot to make an annoying creaking sound. I returned it under the 30 day refund policy. I then purchased a RT84 and it has the same defective noisy back foot. Since the RT84 has the lighter aluminum platter rather than the heavy acrylic platter, the back foot is not as noisy. After posting my experience on Fluance Turntable Facebook page, I learned other owners have experienced the same issue with their reference model turntables. This is obviously a design flaw that Fluance needs to address. Aside from the foot issue, the turntable sounds great. I upgraded from an RT81 and with the Ortofon Blue cartridge, the difference in sound is like night and day. After one week of owning the RT84, I have no plans to return it.

The RT84 looks and sounds great. I have the updated version with the 2M Blue and metal platter. Overall this table has quality features, components at a very fair price. Like the ease of being able to switch cartridges without fuss. Also allows for use of your choice of RCA cables. Sound is excellent, allow time for the 2M Blue to break-in.

This turntable is the perfect middle ground for someone who's just getting into collecting vinyl or for a more seasoned audiophile. As a newcomer, myself, I originally purchased a competitor's TT but I noticed that it had a somewhat filtered sound in the high frequency range. After some research I became aware that it was the built-in pre-amp that wasn't providing a clear signal path, even when bypassed. The online community's solution was the open it up and physically remove the pre-amp. Not wanting to perform this "surgery" on a brand new TT, I decided to return it and upgrade. I saw a lot of glowing reviews of the Fluance RT81 but once I saw the Reference models don't have a built in pre-amp, I intrigued. The fact that it also comes with an Ortofon 2M Red AND acrylic platter, I was sold. Had it for a couple weeks now and I couldn't be happier. I attached my own head shell with an AT-VM540ML cartridge and this TT just sounds amazing! Had a friend of mine stop over and he walked in the door, thought I was listening to a CD. Of the TT is a small piece of the puzzle as pre-amp, power amp and speakers will effect your overall sound, the old rule of garbage in, garbage out stands and the RT84 assures that you'll be inputting a high quality signal to your sound system.
