A joy to use and listen to 2 people found this helpfulI have been using my automatic turntable from the 80's and decided it was perhaps time to upgrade since the P-Mount cartridges seem to have fallen out of favor. I honed in on the Ortofon 2M Blue and searched for turntables that came with it. Given the cost of the 2M Blue, the price of this turntable seemed attractive, especially since Amazon was discounting the bamboo model at the time. It was packed really well and was pretty easy to put together. Taking the plinth out of the packing, I was struck by how solid and heavy it was. The adjustable feet and the bubble level make it very easy to get level. The premounted cartridge was simple to put on. I was a bit confused on how the counterweight works thinking that the wheel with the numbers was an adjustment itself. I had purchased a scale anyway so I could get it precise and didn't rely on the numbers. According to the protractor the alignment was pretty good out of the box. The grounding wire is really important!! I had a lot of noise until I attached that. The dampening mechanism works really well when cuing a record. Everything feels very solid and well built. Even the patch cable was of higher quality than I'm used to. Once I had it all set up, I put on Love Over Gold from Dire Straits. This was the first record I purchased along with my JVC turntable back in the 80's. Wow!! I have never heard so much detail and punch from a record. Reed and string instruments like clarinet and cello really resonate and have an awesome presence. Everything I've put on it has sounded great. I am very pleased with this turntable. In the future I may upgrade the platter to acrylic.

Great turntable 2 people found this helpfulI love this turntable. I've paired it with my 15-year-old old Pioneer surround sound system. First and foremost, it sounds amazing. Also the craftsmanship is beautiful. I opted for the bamboo finish which looks so nice on my credenza. I'm not an audiophile, in that I don't know all of the technical aspects of HiFi. But I know quality when I see it and hear it, and this is it.
