I bought these as part of a new system set up I put together, Yaqin mc-13s plus Yaqin phone pre amp plus Sony sacd plus TN-350 TT. The Sound of these speakers is just amazing, they fill the room with a presence sine qua non.

Randal Clark April 4, 2019 Audiophile - 20+ Years New Brunswick, Canada

I give these speakers a 5 for their category and for their Fluance in producing music the way I like to hear it; as it was played!! I have owned Klipsch; polk and paradigm towers over the past 3 years with retail prices much higher than the Fluance. Every manufacturer makes a different sound impression and I would be able to pick out the Fluance for their clarity and oomph! I power these beauties with a 500W Rotel two channel amp and it is Glorious.

I just got these a week ago. I am running them with onkyo TX-NR777 in stereo.trust the manual. They do need some time to break in. So far they sound great and are sounding better every day. Build quality is excellent. I have been listening to Cerwin Vegas the last 20 years and I have had enough of in-your-face highs and mids. The 7’s are much more laid back. The highs are rolled off but still sound great. I have 2 Polk psw111’s in the room which is approx 20x 20 ft. All together sounds phenomenal. You will need some power to get the most out of these. At least 100 wpc. I highly recommend.

Paulo taborda August 6, 2018 Ontario, Canada

I have a pair for almost 2 years and is a great speakers for the price, but.....need more resolution! Great mids, the bass need more presence. Very well build for this level . I recomend.

Short Version: I’ve had them for over a year now I love them. They’re big awkward to move but they’re beautiful pieces of furniture and they make a statement. The sound is big also these are truly loudspeakers. Buy a receiver that weighs more than 20 pounds to power them. Now the long version:
Design:
This is what got me to buy this speaker.
Each speaker has two separate chambers. The lower section of the speaker is a rear ported chamber with a down firing woofer the top sealed chamber has two mid ranges flanking a silk dome tweeter. They are tall narrow deep and heavy. Might not be good in homes with toddlers or rowdy people. Though the floor spikes do a good job of anchoring each speaker to my carpeted floor. Honestly they do sit pretty solid.
Appearance:
The front piano black finish is mirror like and the mahogany wrap on the body looks great. You won’t mistake them for real wood veneer but the quality is evident. Wife approved. it seems they’re also stylish floor standing shelves. These speakers make a statement about how you feel about sound.
Note: I havent shaken anything off the speakers yet I’ve tried out of curiousity.
Sound:
They work well with movies and music. I’d describe the sound as warm with a slight emphasis on the mid bass. The down firing woofer makes for a large sound stage. They have a unique sound. On Ted Nugents riffs I could hear the notes moving up and down the speaker (these puppies are tall). Adele’s Hello plays to these speakers strengths if you’re a fan you’ll get a shiver.. Some cons are: Dialogue is a little muddied and the bass can fall apart on the deepest tones (think kettle drum). My receiver lets me dial them in though It’s a nice piece of kit itself. As noted above These are old school style loudspeakers. Volume in a medium size room is not an issue.
Setup:
Pair of XL7F’s powered by an Onkyo TX series receiver pushing 100w/channel that weighs 23# highly recommended. Source is a home built HTPC (unreal what it will do). Simple but powerful.
Other Thoughts:
Ain’t no good video reviews on these speakers. The written review by Audioholics is very thorough and finally convinced me to buy them. Pay attention to the section about unpacking them it made my life easier. I used 12 awg wire (overkill but cheap on sale) and banana plugs for connectors (recommended). I had to expand the plugs on the banana plugs so they fit tightly into the speakers.
I also read every review on amazon and several pro reviews before purchasing these. I’m still very happy. - Verified Store

Read the reviews and made the plunge buying four of the speakers. Added two subwoofers and have a stereo that will rattle every window in the house. Quality speakers! I have had them for over a year and still am very happy with my decision to purchase them. You will not be disappointed. - Verified Store

I bought this for my apartment but it was way too much for my tiny place both in terms of size and sound. Fluance's support was amazing enough to help me through the returns process. Will definitely be getting this once I have my own place. The few weeks I had it I absolutely loved it. Could improve the midtones but can't really complain for the price. The downfiring speakers pack a punch though. Absolutely love the pearly white look with the screens off. - Verified Store

- Verified Store

James February 28, 2018

Speakers are truly amazing for the price. They really show what they got at high volume. What they say about the 10 hour 'Break in period' is true. Straight out of the box its missing the low end and some mids. Its my third day of use and they are really coming to life. Fluance website recommends to turn up the volume enough to visually see the speakers move. It helps loosen up the glue/rubber. After breaking in they are Amazing! - Verified Store

At first I was a little disappointed but after a lengthy listening session I realized I wasn't getting tired of the sound. Listening fatigue often sets in with other speakers but not these. The sound is very good for a pair of $500 speakers. They needed just a little extra bump on the low end so after adding a modest subwoofer all is good.

They look great as well. Slightly more imposing than desired but not too bad. - Verified Store

Bought a pair of Classic Elites a couple years ago and was really impressed. i did require a sub woofer for them but they were outstanding. when i saw the XL7F's and after seeing reviews from professionals i knew i had to have em. Ordered them on a Friday received them on Monday! Three weeks later i have no regrets!

Thanks Fluance

Not a bad buy for the price. I've been using these towers for a month now. They look great. There is a lot of sound missing. Not sure if it's the crossover or the midrange woofers? It's killing my music play. - Verified Store

Audiophiles call these budget speakers, They were a major purchase for me. I read every review I could find and finally decided to spend my hard earned cash to buy them. I’ve no regrets about this purchase.
I would have bit the bullet and bought these years ago had I known what I was missing. They are worth the scrimping and saving I had to do to buy them.
Design:
This is what got me to buy this speaker. Each speaker has two separate chambers. The lower section of the speaker is a ported chamber with a down firing woofer with two mid ranges and a silk dome tweeter in the sealed upper section. I am bi amping these with a Sony 7.2 receiver. They are tall, narrow, and deep. Tall and heavy, Might not be good in homes with toddlers or rowdy people. Though the floor spikes do a good job of anchoring each speaker to my carpeted floor. Honestly they do seem to sit pretty solid.
Appearance:
IMHO the best looking pieces of furniture in the house. Visitors unfailingly comment on how good they look. With a touch of furniture polish they just glow. Front piano black finish is mirror like and the mahogany wrap on the body is just stunning. Wife had reservations at first due to the size, but has come to love them. These speakers blend well in my room, but they aren’t inconspicuous. They stand out in a good way.
Sound:
I didn’t know what quality speakers sounded like until I heard these. The sound just envelopes me, the down firing woofers give a large sound stage. Bass is clean, not boomy. The mids and highs are clear. Watching movies, the dialogue and effects are clear and crisp. Listening to music brought a tear to my eye. I’m hearing details I only heard through headphones before. They are sensitive to placement, the closer to a wall they are the more bass they put out. I have mine in corners about 18” from the walls pointing towards our easy chairs. Sometimes I don’t realize how loudly I’m playing them because they sound so clear.
Other Thoughts:
Ain’t no good video reviews on these speakers. The written review by Audioholics is very thorough and finally convinced me to buy them. I’ve also read every review on amazon and several pro reviews before purchasing these. I’m running these as stereo speakers biamped through a Sony STRDH770 7.2 receiver. I own a doublewide mobile home with an open floor plan and these speakers fill the house with sound. Apartment or city dwellers might have issues as these can put out some volume. Thank god I’m a country boy :<)

They sound better after break in didnt much care for them in the begining. Build quality however is real good. Speakers are subjective however and they were replacing some pretty high end speakers from the 1990's - Verified Store

Remarkable speakers- the mids are truly amazing. I am listening to Dark Side of the Moon-passages I know very well and new information comes in with such clarity, bass is so smooth! My amp is an old Rotel and it drives the system beautifully. I have listened to a lot of set ups over time and will say that these speakers exceeded expectation by quite a margin. They are connected to the Fluance 12' sub. and the sub is connected to my amp. For the first time I also hooked up my Mac as a CD player, and I can now control the set up remotely with the little Apple remote. - Verified Store

Updated and rewrote review Oct. 2017. It’s still all love. Audie. Audiophiles call these budget speakers, They were a major purchase for me. No regrets, none at all. There is a 30 day FREE return window and a LIFETIME warranty on these speakers through Fluance. They’re very well built, I doubt I’ll have to use it.Design: This is what got me to buy this speaker. Wife approved, the sound clinched it.Sound: I’d describe the sound as warm, with a slight empasis on the mid bass. The down firing woofer makes for a large sound stage. Bass is clean, tuned for my taste (“ classic rock” ). The silk dome tweeter and the dual 6” mids blend well. They have a unique sound. On Ted Nugents riffs, I could hear the notes moving up and down the speaker. Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Adele Sound incredible.Watching movies, the dialogue and midrange are clear and crisp and the woofers can shake things. They have an awesome soundstage. I have mine in corners about 18” from the walls pointing towards our easy chairs. These are sensitive to placement. Putting them in corners as compared to in front of a wall, changes the sound dramaticly. Corner placement reflects more bass into the room. Give yourself options on where to put them. I bought these speakers simply by reading through the customer reviews and had high hopes for them. Unfortunately, for my own personal tastes, I found the sound of these speakers to be very muddy and lacking a certain crispness, especially with music. For instance, when playing 'Something' by the Beatles through these speakers, it was very difficult to hear Ringo's cymbals as well as the subtleties of George Harrison's guitar.I had these hooked up to a Denon x3300w, not a top end receiver but no slouch either. Even after tinkering with all the options on the receiver, and moving the speakers around, I could not the speakers to produce a clearer, more desirable sound. Alas, I am now trying to sell these speakers as I have bought the Q Acoustics 3050.If your budget allows for you to spend $699, I highly recommend the Q speakers over Fluance XL7F. The Q's are on entirely different level when it comes to sound quality. Unlike the Fluance speakers, the Q's were very pure, unadulterated, and crisp (also, no treble fatigue), and the bass was so smooth and almost had a groove type feel to it.Below are some of the pros and cons of the Fluance XL7F. Please note, these are only my opinions and these speakers may be great for you. Do yourself a favor though and listen to them before you purchase them.Pros:Build quality seems goodEasy on the eyes, they look very goodCan be bi-amped or bi-wiredFantastic quality speaker terminalsNot the worst budget speaker on the market, for most non-audiophile people, these will work just fineCons:Muddy soundingUnusual crossover point at 800 hz (maybe that influences the sound quality)Very power hungry, it takes a lot of power to get a decent sound from these speakersFeels bass heavy at times, difficult to hear midsNot suited for listening to music other than genres like electronica - Verified Store

These speakers sound good. I'm using a 1970's Sansui 120 watt per channel receiver to power them in my living room. They definitely won't handle all the power a vintage monster receiver like this has to offer but they're plenty loud, and have nice tight bass response that I'd often found lacking in similar modern tower speakers. I like them a lot. They sound great & they're beautiful furniture. They compliment my living room well. Best $500 I've spent in a while. - Verified Store

I purchased the about two years ago. Yesterday I was testing out my main AF system by playing Bach’sToccata and Fugue in D Minor. That system has a powered sub and is part of a 7.1 system. Then I thought it would be interesting to see what it sounds like on my Fluance speakers. They are part of a separate system which is in the master bed room. The room is about 15 ft by 20 ft with a 10 foot celling. I am running a Yamaha Stereo receiver (120W) and Yamaha CD played. It sounded great. The bass was so good I was actually able to shake the windows! These speakers are just great.

Ordered my pair of Fluance xl7f speakers on Sunday,March the 26th and received them today,Wednesday,March the 29th.Took a vacation day from work just to make sure I was home when the speakers arrived.Thank you Fluance for the double box and ample packing material as the boxes arrived in less than good shape. There was a gash on one box about half way down the box on the corner that penetrated both boxes exposing the white packing foam Inside, but there was no Impact to the speaker Inside, again, thank you for the great packing job.Bi-wired the xl7f's to my Outlaw rr2150 receiver with 14 awg knukonceptz wire with nakamichi wave plugs(nice fit)Powered up the receiver and chose to play every song I have on my Ipod 5th gen video from the Police, which comes to almost 2hrs of music and now I'm listening to Peter Gabriel(love the wolfson dac in the Ipod)My first Impression of the xl7f's was very good, given the break in period. At first the highs seemed recessed and the mids and bass sounded tight and dry. After 3hrs with the volume control between the 10:30-11:00 position the highs have really opened up and become more forward. The bass and mids have definitely become more natural sounding, and this is just 3hrs into the 10hr break in period.I have always had the dilemma in choosing between new speakers and vintage speakers based on the sound I was looking for.Newer speakers always left me wanting more.I love vintage speakers, but with vintage comes repairs to make them sound as they should, which I didn't mind when I was younger. The xl7f's have not only solved my speaker problems, but has done It with a big smile on my face.Thank you Fluance,I will be watching your future products.

GJ March 10, 2017

I replaced my Energy XL25 floor standing speakers with these. I was skeptical at first before purchasing because the price was just so darn low for a decent quality pair of speakers. My Pioneer receiver is only pushing 80 watts to each channel so I'm on the lower end of the spectrum here but for now it works until I upgrade to more watts per channel. These are much larger than my little Energy's and the sound is very impressive. The cabinets are well done making them look more like 1k and up each instead of 250. The down firing subs can get a bit boomy but hey, I'm not really complaining much here because every thing else is great all the way down to the heavy gauge binding post. You really cannot go wrong here for the price. 4.5 to 5 stars easily. - Verified Store

One of the best purchases I have ever made, period. Speakers arrived quicker than expected, simple set up, look beautiful and sound phenomenal. Fantastic speakers, absolute clear sound, now I am able to hear sounds that have never discovered before in some songs, very well balanced. Deep bass if that is something that you are looking for. Very good construction quality, not hardwood on the cabinets but they have excelent finish and looks wonderful. They sound and looks very, very good!!! Excelent packaging too, and arrived earlier than expected. I highly recommend this speakers, sooo pleased with my selection and certainly will be a faithful Fluance customer in the future!!! - Verified Store

I've been using these speakers for over a year now and I'm still surprised by how good they sound. As a music addict, I listen to a lot of vinyl and cd's. For the price I'm really blown away by the balance and clarity of these speakers. They look nice and feel sturdy too.

I won't go on and list all of the details of the equipment I'm using with these, just a Harman Kardon amp, Sota turntable, and Onkyo CD player. I'd just say to be sure to use decent amplification to be sure to get the best possible sound out of these. They're of the quality that you can hear differences in the quality of your components.
Highly recommend these speakers.

Darrin Searancke October 20, 2016

Purchased the Fluance XL7F speakers after many hours of research. It was hard to reconcile the price with the many rave reviews, but judging by the previous feedback, I had the impression these were quite the deal. And they are! I've owned them for a year and the sound still exceeds my expectations - as others have noted, the Fluance Speakers add a new dimension of listening pleasure to your music collection. I have these connected to my Denon AVR-S900W AV receiver, which I use to play vinyl and my iTunes library (via WIFI/Bluetooth connection) and my music does sound so much better. The vinyl I had listened to for years on my budget stereo speakers now sound almost like new recordings of my old favourites - it's true, I have heard new instruments and subtle musical additions that I had never heard on previous systems/speakers. Based on the many rave reviews I didn't add a Sub Woofer, the bass is superb and I doubt (for my listening requirements) there would be any noticeable benefit. But, judging by the huge contrast in sound I have been enjoying for the past 12 months - I'm still considering it... As you would expect I am a converted Fluance Fan and if I didn't already have 3 turntables I would have already purchased the RT81 High Fidelity Vinyl Turntable Record Player. If you're looking for new speakers - you're in the right place.

Incredible sound. You will not find a better pair of speakers for this price. They are so clear and concise for audio reproduction. The cosmetics are fantastic and very, very well made. I have been in audio for many, many years and even worked in high end audio store some years ago. These speakers sound better than any of the speakers we use to sell. Polk, Kef and so on.

Just to let you know my setup. I have paired thse bad boys to the following:

YAQIN MC-13S EL34 (6CA7) 4 Vacuum Tube Integrated Push-Pull Amplifier. Onkyo cd player. Equalizer to adjust for track differences.
These speakers came alive like no tomorrow!

I am now a forever fan of Fluance. I will be buying more soon!

Rick R April 5, 2016

Here's a complaint...My wife thinks they're large, I think they're just right! Fit and finish of the speakers are perfect., visually and audibly. Although the speakers are not wrapped in a real wood veneer, the finish matches my decor very nicely. I've had them for approximately 2/3 weeks now and the sound quality seems to be getting better and better. The mid/tweeter/mid configuration distributes higher frequences very well without leaving any dead spots.

I'd like to give your staff 5 stars as well. Everyone I've interacted with were very helpful and made every effort to gain my complete satisfaction. I had received an email from one of CDW's sub companies asking me to review a set of speakers that I didn't order. Without hesitation, I went into panic mode thinking that my credit card had been hacked. I immediately called CDW thinking the worst and anticipating their inability to help me out. Whitney, the customer service representative patiently listened to my situation, took down some personal information, and immediately went to work. She assured me that it was only a glitch in the system and that she would investigate further. The following day, I received an email from Duane, Whitneys supervisor, explaining exactly where the glitch was and that it would be immediately corrected.

A quality product is one thing, but a quality staff to back the product up is something much more exceptional!

I wanted to try something else than my English made Missions, which I had for years and I had so many different types. Good idea was to support Canadian company and Fluance had a very nice looking products. First I started with subwoofer (red rosewood) then added a pair of XL7F and finally matched center channel speaker. I am hooked to the audio from mid 70's and I have heard a lot of good sound from different companies. I am also electronic technologist and designer, then I think I can "catch" a good product. With one of my amplifiers (JVC, NIKKO, Luxman hybrid) made by Panasonic, I hooked the speakers in bi-amplifying mode ( use 2 amp. channels per side (L), one for low and one for high frequencies), for other side (R) another two. They claim in that configuration 4,x 100W for stereo use. First, speakers look very high class and finish is very good, I can say excellent even it is not real wood veneer. ( Fluance please consider upgrade models with real wood veneer, even for higher price, these speakers are worth it). Very heavy and speaker terminals are HUGE, very nice detail. The whole impression is that you have very solid product in a front of you. I had that feeling with my high class Missions too, but price for these UK products are few times higher.
Sound is fantastic, no vibrations, resonance or any other unwanted sounds. I played classical music from my Denon and Panasonic SACD players, pop and rock from my CDs and all kind of music is simply reproduced very fine from these speakers. In Surround mode, Subwoofer and centre speaker worked excellent ( in conjunction with reviewed front speakers, plus my current surround speakers from Mission, which will be, I hope, changed soon with Fluance matching rear speakers ( Current Ca $ is low and I am waiting for some better days to add rear Fluance speakers).
I thing Fluance needs more advertising ( people doesn't know much about them) and maybe at least one place in Toronto as showroom, to show what they have and let people enjoy the sound. If you are in analogue sound, don't forget to check their kickstarter for two very nice turntables ( I signed in today for one). If they find enough customers for a two new ( excellent) turntables, they will make them ready for June 2016 delivery. For a fraction of the price what would be for that type of quality turntables if made by some other company. Very happy with my purchase! Happy to see new models are coming.

Spent years looking, listening and comparing specs.... then i read about Fluance speakers. Component quality, appearance and price... all pro selling points.
Didn't really like buying speakers with out hearing them first but i took a chance, and it paid off. Still replacing my sound system throw backs. Only speakers I'm going to keep are my infinity Qe's, going to be my surround speakers.
Am running a Denon AVR-1912 Reciever accompanied by a Denon DBP1611UD Blu Ray player. Have had my Denons for awhile, bought them when they first came out and have been waiting to pair them to speakers worthy of their features and credentials... well Fluance XLB Series is it.
I take my music and home theater system series and Fluance is my personal choice. Quality build and superb sound... period

Richard W March 23, 2016

Received my new XL7F speakers lighting fast from amazon. First impression was given to me by the UPS man, "wow these speakers are heavy". They are built very sturdy and although they have some size, they do not take up a big footprint. They come with some hefty carpet spikes that screw in and some stick on rubber feet that do a good job of isolating them from my wood floor. Binding posts are beefy, and grills are not cheap plastic but MDF that fits securely in place. I bought the walnut cabinets and they do look sharp.
I run these 2 speakers as a stereo pair pushed by a 100 watt per channel Denon. The fluance replaced a pair of paradigm monitors and a paradigm powered sub that I have had for some time now and the improvement was noticed right away, even by my wife and 16 year old daughter. The Fluance really made the denon shine. Clear crisp highs and enough base to not miss the subwoofer. They also handle all the power the denon can give them. It was easy to put in the 10 hours fluance recommends as a break in period. They sounded great right out of the box.
Sound great, good looks, priced incredibly for their performance, lifetime warranty ... I would recommend these speakers to anyone. -Verified Store

I am running Fluance XL7Fs powered by a Yamaha Aventage RX-A1040 AVR. After the break in period I tried without bi-amplification and then using bi-amplification. At quiet volumes they are average. At average listening volume or higher they are amazing for the price. The bi-amplification remarkably enhanced the mid and high range sounds. String sections are clearly distinguished from brass and low brass. Lead guitars clearly separated from vocals, cymbals and synth tracks. The bass sounds are quite clear and I don't feel a subwoofer is necessary. These speakers are an exceptional value. Run them with an amp with adequate power output that will support 4-6 ohm impedance and bi-amplification and you will likely be very pleased with them. -Verified Store

good looking well made speaker bought this strictly on reviews. took about 15 to 20 hours break in time using a dennon receiver putting out 100 watts per chanel.no problem with power now for the sound i use these strictly for music. i listen to all types of nusic especially vocals the midrange is excellant nice and clear the singer sounds like she or he is right there the highs are very good most times they are right on. the base is good sone times a little too muffled but that could be the placement of the speakers to close to wall etc. all in all a pleasent sounding speaker that you can enjoy

MIKE March 2, 2016

I bought these to go with the 5 speaker set i bought from flaunce awhile ago, that consists of the center, bipolar, and bookshelf speakers, they are the xl7 set, so i really wanted the floor standing speakers to go with them. I love the whole set up, it sounds amazing. Very high quality speakers that will last me a lifetime. I have the mahogany and i really like it. Now all i need is 2 of the xl7 subs to go with them for the full matching set. I cant recommend these enough to anyone looking to getting new speakers. -Verified Store

I got tired of having to go to the game room in my basement to listen to my albums through my old stereo setup (Technics/Vegas) from the eighties. It still sounds great on my old equipment. I wanted something on the main floor, though, so I can listen in the living room or while cooking or even while working in my home office.
My Yamaha home theater receiver is 8 years old and does not have phono jacks. I'm running my turntable through the auxiliary jacks and it sounded like crap through my home theater speakers. No bass. I even bought a preamp. Still, no listening pleasure. So, I decided I needed some traditional floor speakers. After much research and even checking out speakers at both big box stores (basic) and local media boutiques (high end and super pricey), I chose these. I must say: wow!
After leaving my radio on for days to break the speakers in, they sound awesome. I'm getting that rich, full sound from my albums that I get downstairs on my old system. I must admit, I've even forgotten to change the speaker selection on my receiver after turning my turntable off and realized that movies sound awesome through these speakers, too -- just two floor speakers! It's a lovely sound, full, deep, and spirit-lifting, and by far the most reasonably priced pair I could find for this top-shelf quality. -Verified Store

Awsome speaker for price, buy one get one free cost compared to any thing else. Quality is great. Full sound having the 8s bi amped. Stand alone awsome speakers. Wish I would have bought the set with bookshelfs and center. New onkyo tx-nr545 runs everything beautifully. Look is stylish and finish is premium. Can't ask for better speaker for cost. Fluance did a great job on the XL7F. Life time warranty, hope I never have to use. Speedy shipping, ordered Saturday and we're setting in my living room 4 days later on Wednesday.

Worth every cent...

Steven K November 20, 2015

These just arrived today. Packing was excellent - despite UPS's best efforts the speakers are in perfect shape. The build quality of these speakers completely blows me away - I'd say these put brands like Polk, Paradigm, and Klipsch to shame. Sound quality is very, very good. I'm still tweaking and breaking-in, but I am very happy with the sounds I'm getting right now. There's no way you can get anything else that sounds remotely as good as these speakers for the price (or even double the price). Highly recommended! I will be ordering a center channel soon. One final note - Fluance customer service has really impressed me - keep it up guys!

Mamacita November 20, 2015

Sound is very good quality for the price paid.

Received these speakers just before xmas as I kinda blew up my old ones, oops, Anyway purchased based on the reviews but was disappointed that I could not audition before purchase. Future shop sells but does not stock in house. I am very pleased with the performance and the reviews are spot on. Once broken in they seem to sound fuller as the hours go by. I am not an audiofile by any stretch but these are better than any I have owned over the past 30 years. Will most likely be replacing balance of my home theatre system with Fluance.

Brent H November 20, 2015

Now in my mid-50s, I had been using my good ole stereo gear for more than 30 years - but with my hearing getting worse and my stereo getting old, I hadn't really been enjoying music. Over the last 10 years, I would go to audio showrooms hoping that I would hear affordable gear that was better than what I already had. Finally, a good friend from Ohio (of all places) recommended these Canadian-made speakers to be hooked up to an upgraded pre-amp/processor and amp. I couldn't be more pleased! I'm hearing high-end quality at an affordable cost. These speakers (with a sub-woofer to deal with the lowest lows) bring out clarity like I haven't heard since my ears were young. I now have a great stereo and home theatre through which music, sound effects and speaking voices seem real and natural. Kudos to Fluance!

Cristan November 20, 2015

My place was broken into several months ago and all my electronics were taken. I bought these Fluance speakers to replace the Mission surround set I had. I was somewhat reluctant to buy a set of speakers my own ears had never heard however, I took the chance based on the reviews I had read. I replaced the receiver this past weekend and hooked up the speakers...I was highly impressed with the sound of Fluance. Music sounds incredible on this "under a grand" set of speakers.Coupled with my Klipsch Sub, this system can't be beat anywhere for price/value.Fluance..."You guys RULE!"Thank you!

Matt November 20, 2015

I've had these speakers for about 4 days, I got them for an absolute steal on a promotional sale for $300. There is no way Fluance made money selling these speakers to me for that price, they lost money, so as a thankyou I will write about them and let people know what they are like. For the price they are asking a little under $500 they are an absolute steal. There is nothing anywhere you can buy of this quality for that much money. They look good, the piano black of the fronts matches with my TV while the cherry/mahogany finish matches with my furniture, they look high end. The white drivers are a nice touch, they add a good looking contrast that doesn't overpower, just makes them classy, they took time making these look right for your living room. They are big, if you have a wife you might want to buy them first and tell her when they are in your house, because otherwise she will tell you to get BOSE. They also require good amplification. Fluance rates them as 4ohm 80-200 Watts. I think 80 is a tad high but I think I they give that rating because they aren't expensive speakers to buy, so the people that buy them probably don't have expensive equipment, and if you run them with a cheap amp you may damage them and blow up your amp (and since there's a lifetime warranty that can't be good for business). Manufacturers also giving wildly high specs for pieces of crap amp, a general rule of thunmb is to make sure an amp is rated for at least two cahennels between 20-20000 khz (not 1 channel at 1KHZ) with a distortion rate of around 0.08. If your amp does that with 80 watts and weighs 20lbs or more you are most likely going to be fine (it's tough because manufacturers stop rating for 4ohm speakers... I've got my eye on the Harman Kardon 3490, which at 150 watts per channel 4 ohm steady and around $300, looks like the one to get). As for the sound, well... It's weird, I have albums that I've always thought were recorded badly as they sounded subdued on my speakers, for instance I have Gomez "Liquid Skin" and Gomez "Bring it on".. to me liquid skin sounded alive and bring it on sounded flat and subdued, plugging the same album into these speakers, Bring it on is amazing, to the point I've never heard it before, Liquid skin sounds the same. Maybe this is something to do with the "loudness war" that recording engineers are engaged in, I don't know, but it is a treat to go back and listen to albums I've always thought lacked oomph and hear them properly. Another good one is Bebel Gilbertos tanto tempo, it's like she is in the room singing, I've listened to that album 5 times in the last 4 days, I can't get enough. These speakers bring out everything in the music, you can hear people talking at the start of songs. There is also phenomenal seperaration in instruments, each instrument seems like it occupies a different space to the other, an effect I've never heard with anybodys setup, sure it probably exists, but hey, I'm shopping for $500 speakers... A brilliant sound stage too. Since I plugged these in I've literally spent every free hour I've had listening to music, probably upsetting my neighbours. The bass is great, I actually turned it down a couple of decibels in order to not annoy my neighbours... It isn't boomy tricked out honda bass, it's the bass the artists wanted you to hear. Yes in short order these speakers are phenomenal, you do hear the brushes on drums bouncing off. The build quality is very high, I'd give it a 9 out of ten, only saying that because I notice the screws in the tweeter were't exactly parallel on my right speaker, not a big deal unless you are a little OCD like me, other than that these do not look like cheap speakers, they look like speakers you see in high lifestyle mags in setups you've never seen let alone can afford. I honestly don't know how Fluance actually make any money. obviously no money goes to promotions or advertising, the money goes to the speakers and their profit margins must be razor thin. They're probably relying on word of mouth, which makes sense as when you get something this good for so cheap you want top tell everyone.I had a 5.1 system before (actually the AVHTB+) which I liked it a lot and which is why I got these, but now I realise that there is no reason for surround sound, surround sound is a gimmick that is there to make up for quality 2.0. If you have 2 good towers and a good amp that is more than you need. If you are considering buying these I'd say stop thinking and pull the trigger, you won't be sorry.

Stu R November 20, 2015

I've had these speakers about 3 months. About a month before I bought these, I bought a pair of Polk LSI-15s, which were formerly 3X the price of the XL7Fs. The XL7F is clearer, with even less smear and hangover than the LSI-15s. Like another reviewer, I've returned to stereo. The sound is awesome. I still haven't bi-wired these, which will, I'm sure, sound even better (if that's possible). This is my third set of Fluance speakers, and is the best I've heard to date, I've owned about 25-30 other speaker systems over time ... some esoteric, some well known and great sounding. But these are the most natural and detailed I've heard to date. They are a steal at their advertised price. My associated equipment is an Emotiva processor, Emotiva 5-channel (200 wpc all channels driven) power amplifier, and a subwoofer,

Jeremy S November 20, 2015

In short, these are great sounding, high quality speakers that are excellent value. I bought them on sale so they were a particularly good deal. I wish Fluance didn't bump their direct prices up a bit just so they could offer sales, but that's their marketing strategy for now...

Before I bought the XL7Fs I was wondering how they sounded. The specs looked good but that never tells the whole story. I had borrowed a friend's Fluance speakers for a few years and replaced them with Polk Audio R30s a while ago when I had to give them back. I remember at the time the highs, mids, and lows of the Fluance speakers sounded better than their replacements.

Now that I've had the XLF7s for two weeks I think I've broken them in and listened to them enough to offer a semi-objective review. I've used them almost exclusively for listening to music (but a few movies), only in stereo (no surround or centre channels), mostly without my powered subwoofer, and at moderate volumes. Imaging and clarity are very good. Voices sound rich, natural and in the room (subject to the recording quality). I'm sure if I compared them to speakers costing $1000 more there would be further subtle improvements, but the XL7Fs sound so good, I can't justify paying that much more for a negligible improvement, or paying the same amount for something that sounds inferior. These speakers are so good they allow me to hear subtle differences in how albums have been recorded and mastered.

The bass response is full and (for the most part) smooth and probably go as low as the specs say. The bass goes so deep, there's almost no need for a subwoofer, although having one helps the extreme lows (5-string bass, low synth sounds, percussion hits) sound more punchy. The exception to the smooth bass response, and really the only flaw (more of a quirk) is a little bass boost around 200hz that stands out only when I listen for it. I'm guessing it's an artifact caused by the tuned bass port. Above and below this boost, the low frequencies are smooth and sound great. This little boost is subtle, not annoying, and only noticeable when I listen closely to a bass instrument note-by-note. I've thought of plugging the port to see if it makes a difference, but it's so minor, I can't be bothered. When I crank the volume (which, unfortunately isn't that often) the bass remains quite powerful and well-balanced in relation to the higher frequencies. Whatever distortion may be present at high volumes is lower than any distortion caused by the acoustics of my living room.

Final things worth mentioning are: shipping was fast but the outer box was beat up. These look really nice and are nicely finished. There are no visible or audible flaws given they're made in China. I'd give them 5 stars if the bass response was 100% flawless (really making them indistinguishable from $$$$ speakers) and the shipping was a little more gentle.

I was searching for a new pair of the Wharfedale sr1 surround speakers I have (had) on Amazon. One of the search results that I received was for the surround speakers in this package. The setup was reversed and they were a little larger so I went on about my buisness. I had just recently been to my Fathers house and reinstalled his home theatre system consisting of an Infinity Intermezzo system and was to be quite honest very jealous. I had a Yamaha sub sat/ Wharfedale system that was awesome, his just had that extra UMPH.

So I stumbled upon these surround speakers on amazon, not the same, however I cannot buy the Wharfedales anymore.

On a whim I forgot the surround speakers and purchased the 3.0 system on a Thursday. While thinking on friday I checked the website again and the bipole speakers were on sale for 99.00! I jumped on it and got them ordered.

The shipments were two days apart.

I received the mains and center on Monday and the surrounds on Tuesday.

Got em all installed and ran Audessy on my Denon receiver and I will compare them head to head with my Dad's $12,000 speaker system anyday!

When he goes he has promised me those speakers ...Maybe I will put them in the garage..LOL My Other system!

Todd November 20, 2015

I purchased this system at Chruistmas time. They were delivered promptly and in excellent packing quality. Once they were "broken in", I have come to love these speakers! Amazing sound for an amazing price! I would highly recommend! A+++++++++++

Nimbley Sounds great November 20, 2015

I love these speakers. The sound is absolutely amazing. I have them powerd bi amped which keeps the load at 8ohms on my receiver and they have crystal clear highs and the bass is really there. Playing a CD through the Blu-Ray player sounds incredible. I just ordered the center channel for watching TV and hope it sounds as good as the floorstanders. I don't really need it but I really love the speakers and had to add another.

Dave F November 20, 2015

I just upgraded my amp.
I was impressed with the XL7F's already but matched with the NAD C355BEE they surpass all expectations. I wrote earlier that at high volume the bass breaks down a little. Not now. The audiophile grade NAD set everything to a new level. There is no distortion, at any listening level, incredible separation and detail with distinct, solid bass. I thought these speakers would be a stop gap measure until i could afford to go "all out" but it would appear I already have.
I upgraded my amp.......and now all the pieces fit together.

Wayne Han November 20, 2015

I just did good review on Amazon so here too.
I've owned it for about 2 months now and I made no mistake with my choice on this products. I was initially looking for good used B&W speakers and other reputable brand but with my budget and the spec that I want it's limited available on the market what I was looking for. I recently got two Rotel bridged mono power amps which power rating at 150w output and wanted to feed each power amp to each speaker which set up was going to eliminate most of bookshelf speakers so my mains are only without a doubt floor standing loudspeakers.

Actually, I never heard of Fluance brand until I started to do research my main speakers and when I found about it, for the price it was well fit and spec are just perfect for my need to hook up to my amps. When I did research no one was giving any negative feedback and that made up my mind to purchase this wonderful items.

As I mentioned above, even used bookshelf one from B&W brand would cost more. This Flunce XL7F are $500 come a pair of price is less than used bookshelf but I not saying they are over priced. They are just high demand in used market, of cause floor standing type would be a lot higher.

I do not want to call it a budget sp and not want to use words entry level sp, it's actually top on the line in Fluence products and it definitely deserve as excellent and well engineered products. When I first time saw these SP I could not believe how well crafted the cabinets are and all the material they put were really high graded. What I like about the design is they don't put so many crazy woofers at your sight but hide one at the bottom which 8" woofers down firing will reproduce tight, deep and accurate bass( Fluence described it sexiest bass, which sound nice to me really). Well, that will not bring the best sound from the look and sexiness so how about the sound?

I have tried many kind of music rock, classical, techno, soul all play nothing come to short. When I listen Evanescence, it just assured me I bought a sweet but powerful speakers. Hayley Westenra song and angelic voice was just make me feel I was floating in the air or gliding in the valley what a natural sound. I listen a lot of Enigma, Linkin Park, old soft rock from 80's 90's, piano notes what a great sound with image that come to live. Can't remember everthing to write though.

Yes, the true is it require good amplification so go ahead and choose good amp to drive out of it's best, especially to the music rather than home theater system.
Preferably separate system will be the best at least in my case.

Even saying max produced products can not be sold at this price, consider to shipping fee a lone it take a big chunk of cost to ratio selling price so I would like to give a lot of credit to the company's working hard and ahh life time warranty too so wish them well all the best. I hope it help everyone and Fluence will keep produce wonderful speakers and even innovate better in the future.
Oh, be care with their spike legs it a little short so if you over twist it will come out and your heavy SP will loose balance and might fall so twist it slow, not over do.

I have had these speakers for about a month now, and while I didn't actually need to upgrade my sound system, I am extremely happy that I did. The frequency response is extremely balanced, and I have yet to hear any trace of distortion. The thing that surprised me the most about these speakers when they came in was the packaging and build quality. For the price you would spend buying comparable (or in many cases worse) towers you could easily buy these and a nice powered sub. Another thing that absolutely blew me away about these speakers is the finish, you simply do not want to hide any part of them (I am still disappointed that I couldn't find a way to show the binding posts off). I have / would recommend these to anyone looking to buy, or improve, their setup, because they are so much better than anything within double the price.

Daniel faulk November 20, 2015

I have had these speakers for over two months and I just added a HSU subwoofer. The sound is amazing. If someone asked me how they could get the best sounding speaker system for less than $2000 I would say buy a pair of the XL7F speakers and add a HSU sub and you will be overwhelmed by the clarity, sound stage, detail and depth! I have never heard anything that sounds this good!

Joel B November 20, 2015

I have had these speakers for several months. I originally bought them as a set of 'cheaper' speakers for my cottage where we have weekend crowds of people who love to listen to music of all genres during the day and watch movies at night. First, I was astonished at how quickly they were shipped, it was only two days after I ordered them online that UPS was in my driveway. Second, as a previous reviewer mentioned, these suckers are substantial and by that I mean big and solid. They were double boxed, extremely well wrapped so my reaction out of the gate was really positive. I didn't want to let nice boxes and quick delivery influence me however, so I remained...skeptical...after all these are really inexpensive speakers. When I unpacked them my expectations were exceeded again as these are really nicely finished. I would classify them as furniture grad cabinetry, very nice effect with the black piano fronts and the connection hardware on the backs are as solid and heavy as the overall speaker itself. Ok, quick delivery, professionally packed and they look great...

So, what about sound? I was very careful through the first 10 hours using them to listen to music quietly and watch TV. I was driving them at home using a Denon 1913 thinking this would be a wise move...i.e. very controlled during the break in period so that they would not get damaged by over exuberant boys cranking them up listening to AC/DC CCR amongst others. Yes, they should get their own music but that's a different topic. The sound seemed surprisingly crisp and clear through the first 10 hours and the bass was as described in the CNet review - that being aggressive. Since the 10 hours ended I have put these speakers through their paces. I can only say this...my expectations have now been exceeded on all fronts. After really pushing them hard both while listening to music and watching movies they are better than I ever expected...and have not and will not move to my cottage. The speakers I had at home (more expensive) have since been taken to the lake and XL7F's will stay right here. I just can't wait for the matching centre and surrounds to be released as I am quite certain they will remain here as well where we can hear them every day, and the remainder of my current 5.1 system will head north. I can say without hesitation that for the price you (or anyone else for that matter) will not find better value in a speaker and importantly, in getting that value you will not give up a bit of sound quality...

In fact, and I say this with the utmost confidence, after you get over how nice they look you will be just as astonished as me at just how good they sound.

Gary Larson November 20, 2015

I have had these speakers for about a month know and I am totally impressed. The sound is fantastic and the quality is excellent. Before I purchased these units, I was considering Polk, JBL and Klipsch speakers in the same class. Unfortunately the others didn't pass the test, the XL7F's are by far superior. And for the price, look very high end (the binding post could be beefier, ha, ha). All kidding aside, the speakers were packaged great and after unpacking, there was not one flaw. Fluance, keep up the great work and continue to impress with new designs. I highly recommend these loudspeakers to everyone!

Chris Barton November 20, 2015

I bought these with the XLBP Bi Polar speakers for my home theater and music listening. I'm using a Sub and Center channel speaker from another manufacturer. I have to say these are absolutely amazing. Truly impressive. I've had them for almost 2.5 years now and not a day goes by that I don't NOTICE how good they sound. You won't regret if if you purchase them.

Dave F BC November 20, 2015

I bought these on sale when they were first released at a rediculously low price.
Although they aren't the powerhouse of my Cerwin Vega AT-12's, the purity of the sound is far superior. At low volume you get a full, rich sound with warm bass, full midrange and crisp highs while still carrying on a morning coffee conversation. At a reasonable, "high-middle" volume the bass really comes alive. It pounds pretty good, with no distortion and a strong solid feel. The clarity of the mids and highs remain true, and a conversation at this level is acheivable, but requires a dedicated effort.
Fully crank these baby's and they fall a little short of stellar. The bass will break down a little, however the midrange and highs remain true to form.
The build quality is nothing short of amazing. These speakers look better than some high end units with price tags of $1800 to over $2000 locally. They arrive so well packaged I swear they could just throw them off the plane while flying over my house and they would survive the trip.
So if you want to damage your hearing and blow the odd window out, then these speakers are not for you, but for the audiophile enthusiast looking for a speaker system that offers high quality sound reproduction at an incredible value, then I challenge anyone to find a better value than these.

Holy shipping!! 2 days and thats it. Basement theatre is in Reno mode so it will be a bit until I can hear them. Will be paired up with a polk audio 12inch sub and a pioneer vsx 822 receiver. Cant wait? thanx guys!

Mike Cook November 20, 2015

Have been running these XL7F towers for just about a year now and decided to finally write a bit of a review. No audiophile lingo, just plain words. These units after a break in period of about 30 hrs sound great! They are mated to a Yamaha RX830A a/v receiver. I have owned some very good speakers over the years and these are right up there with them. I was so impressed with the quality, sound and value that I have purchased 2 sets of XLDB bipolar surrounds and a DB150 subwoofer from these folks as well! Super satisfied with the great clean sounds! Instead of junking my old a/v receiver I have just purchased the Fluance AVHTB series towers and have set up a smaller system for the bedroom. As I write this they are beginning to sound smoother after just 10 hrs. Another great purchase! A special thanks to Charlie at Fluance customer service for his assistance in making another smart purchase. So what are you waiting for: if you want some ear pleasing gear go buy!!

Cristian Badea-Hasasian November 20, 2015

Got my pair for Christmas along with a Marantz PM6005 (which has a good DAC module). After connecting my laptop with an optic digital cable ($15) and 12ga high copper content speaker wires to the amplifier, here we are testing them out. "We" is myself and my son who is a musician with a trained ear. For us is the best we ever heard. It is impressive even with god RCA cables running from the DVD, but using a coaxial cable makes a noticeable difference in depth and width. They provide a great clean sound with plenty of low frequency for the today's listener.
Happy as a bird I am playing them daily in the music room/office mostly music from Spotify (with Equalify Equalizer, free plugin).
Briefly: take them while the price in at this mark.

Fantastic speakers for the price. You can't beat 499 for a pair. excellent highs and good controlled bass. Only a powered sub could beat the bass. I had an issue with the tweeters and replacements were sent to me in no time. They were easy to install and sound great. I highly recommend these speakers and this company.

Been through a lot of so-called high-end speakers in 49 yrs. Whether you can afford higher priced speakers or not, give these serious consideration. I'm beside myself regarding just how musical these are. Imaging is precise and they do a great job of disappearing in my listening room. Highly recommended!!

Before buying these XL7F's i had purchased a pair of AVFR's and i thought those were the best sounding speakers i have ever heard under $500 and i only paid $150 for the pair, Fluance i don't know how you do it but these XL7F's are simply awesome. and for under $500 insane. build quality is top notch. when i purchase my center channel ill have the best sounding 5.1 system around and for around a $1000 keep up the good work fluance. happy return customer.

Absolutely fantastic. Great sound - especially for music.
For movies, you definitely want an additional center speaker (and a sub-woofer) as the sound is a bit unbalanced in movies. Especially dialogs are a bit faint compared with the rest of the sounds - I am really glad they have added a center speaker in the XL line now - on my "order" list for next month.

Wow! Is all that I can say. I purchased these speakers to replace 25 year old Infinity's. The Infinity's had finally dry rotted and forced me to purchase a new pair of speakers. I could have repaired the infinity's and I still may just do that, but I needed a nice speaker set to replace them so that I could listen to my music and Movies without the sound being distorted.I looked over all the reviews of speakers in my price range, even went to various shops locally to listen to comparable setups, and simply could not find something that I liked. After more time, I decided to look on my Favorite site AMAZON and see what they had available here.I saw the Fluance was popular, so I looked up some reviews and most of them were very positive, so after reading the reviews here I decided to give them a chance. Boy was I pleased! They arrived quickly and they were shipped packaged very well. I pulled them out and connected them to my receiver, ram them through the instructed burn in time ( Please read the instructions that come with the Speakers), and then cranked them up <SMILE>.Very pleasant sounding units, I actually had to back off the Sub that I had as these do a better job of handling the lows.If you are on the Fence about these speakers, give them a try. If you are one of those that believe price indicates performance, then you need to listen to these first.I really paid a lot less for speakers than I had allocated, and received a great value for my money. Simply put I really do enjoy these and I plan to purchase more later for another receiver that I will have in my bedroom. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

WOW! I bought these speakers after extensive research online and a bit hands on. I had roughly $400 to play with to get some descent speakers. I wanted the best my money could get for me and I was open to other brands, even though I am partial to Paradigm, Polk & Infinity speakers all in different incarnations. Paradigm was my original hope but I knew I wouldn't get anything better than a nominal set of book shelf speakers or maybe a reference center channel at best from Paradigm. The secret has been out for years now on them another Canadian spawned speaker company. As a matter of fact Paradigm speakers and Fluance speakers have a similar business model, low advertising costs, concentration on the engineering aspect of speakers design as well as healthy respect for aesthetics.Build it, they will come. Fluance direct ships from their manufacturing facility. They double box their shipments and surround the inner box with thick torsion styro-foam. FREE SHIPPING & no tax. Remember when I said I had $400 to play with? Well that wouldn't have bought these normally but that $400 was really $500 when I take taxes and shipping into account.Probably the best $500 I have ever spent. They look amazing and are built solid and the cherry finish looks like a nice compliment to my leather couches. Bi-wired double binding posts for speaker connections. Down firing woofer in an isolated chamber gives it very nice bass. The mid-ranges & the tweeter are state of the art. I listened to "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, an album I have easily heard 100x over the last 25 years. I could hear nuances and subtleties I never heard before on any other system. There is an excerpt from the album where a man is knocking on doors and proclaiming "time to go", (the part right before Comfortably Numb). I could here the mans actual knuckles hitting the wood! That may seem like a "duhh" observation but the detail is mind boggling.I would advise following the 10 to 40 hour break-in period to really hear optimal tonality. Every time I listen to them they sound better! Really worth the money and look fantastic! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

When I ordered those speakers, I had just returned 2 pairs of speakers from 2 major brands (won't mention any name) because I wasn't satisfied with the way they sounded. I started to accept the idea that the quality I was looking for didn't exist in this price range and that I would have to spend a lot more. Then I heard about those speakers. I read all the good the reviews, but still... I was a little nervous about ordering online without the opportunity to listen to them (as you might be if you're reading this). The 30 days satisfaction guarantee convinced me to give it a try. The speakers came double boxed for extra protection during shipping. Speakers are nicely build, solid and classy. But most important... the sound! I'm not going to list fancy and esoteric audiophile adjectives, I'll just say that the sound is fantastic. After 2 weeks of listening, I couldn't be happier.PS: These are the only speakers in my setup (no surround, no subwoofer) and are used for music exclusively (with HK3490). -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Well worth the money, and they sound great. I am hearing things in songs and music that I never even noticed before. I was ready to spend 3-4 times the amount for Bose, JBL, Klipsh, etc., and based on reading the reviews, decided to try these speakers. I could not be happier! In a nutshell a superior product value! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

What a tremendous value. I am replacing a vintage pair of KEF reference speakers and I was hesitant at first due to the low price but after reading other reviews I thought what's there to lose. These are well made high quality speakers that sound tremendous. They did require the break in period but after that they wail. Listening to everything from jazz to Tool they are accurate and full sounding. I also purchased the center speaker and the combo is well worth the price. Don't be afraid to buy these without auditioning first. An excellent value. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Gerhard P. Knapp "gpk" November 20, 2015

Through the decades, I have had quite a succession of high-end stereo speakers, too numerous to mention. In the early 1990s, I chose a pair of Speakerlab 7s for my main system and greatly enjoyed them until one more interstate move was imminent, and I decided to finally sell them for various reasons. After settling down, I set about replacing them and listened to several attractive candidates (some of them very pricey), read a lot of reviews and consulted friends more knowledgeable in recent choices. I heard and read many good things about the Fluance XL7Fs and decided to order a pair: given the price and the return option this seemed a fairly low-risk way to go.The speakers arrived in record time. Packaging (double-boxed with Styrofoam padding) was great, everything in perfect order. The speakers are quite pleasing to the eye and appear to be well made, right down to the mighty gold-plated (?) connections on the back and the commendable spikes to be attached to the bottoms. The hookup to my Carver Sunfire pre-amp and power amplifier was a cinch. Fluance (in the skimpy flyer enclosed with the speakers) recommends a break-in period of only 10 hours - perhaps somewhat unrealistically. I played the speakers at moderate to reasonable levels of orchestral (classical CDs and DVDs, some movies) music during the break-in time and beyond, then ventured to a somewhat higher volume and pieces including the human voice, both solo and in choral settings. Needless to say: the Carver amp has no trouble driving the speakers to fairly loud levels with the volume control still below the one-fourth mark. I figured out that the Fluances sound best about a foot away from the wall: this gives them plenty of room to breathe, but I am still experimenting a bit with speaker placement and my optimal listening position - for now I am satisfied with a roughly equidistant 6-feet+ triangle. As to the sound, the Fluances - after the initial break-in time - are absolutely amazing and seem to be getting better every day. The tweeters have settled in and are sounding both crystal clear and sweet: no small feat for any tweeter. There appears to be a very slight boost in the upper and lower midrange, favoring woodwinds, brass and timpani. The deep bass is truly impressive, no doubt due to the down-firing woofers, never diffuse and always focused. With these speakers, you won't need a subwoofer unless you have a surround/movie setup and crave special effects. All in all, the Fluances are detailed, transparent, even analytical speakers and, at the same time, highly musical in their reproduction and integration of complex orchestral textures. Instrumental groups and solos shine out without any undue spotlighting. Be forewarned: they are not forgiving (as inferior speakers are by default) to poor recordings -- you hear precisely what is there, even the slightest acoustic glitches on recent Blu-ray DVDs. These are wonderful speakers, regardless of their price, which easily outclass some of the "big" names. I could go on with my praise, but I'll cut it short. Hearing is believing. In case you are still sitting on the fence, do go ahead and get them while you can! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

These were the start of my current 3.1 system that replaced a HTIB. And let me tell you, the difference is staggering. After the initial break in period, these performed fantastically. These are absolutely amazing. Forget about how they sound (that's been reviewed at length), they look phenomenal! We got the red ones, and the combination of red, white, and black look really awesome. My wife is really picky about how she decorates her house (she works in styling), and she's super excited about them. It allowed us to fall back in love with our living room. We used to spend none of our time in there and just stick to the bedroom, now we spend tons of time listening to music and hanging around in there. Having friends over is a lot more fun now too!Sound is great as well. Something was just missing from the $799 speakers I was using for a year. One of which was the fact that one of the mid-range drivers could not handle certain acoustic guitar notes. Very disappointing at said price. Anyway, after reading the many positive reviews, I had the audacity to sell my $799 towers for these Fluance XL7F Towers. Ordered directly from Fluance on a Sat. and received them by Tues.Over the course of 30 yrs or so I've been through my share of high end speakers. As I go through my music collection, I struggle to remember a speaker that was as musical as this one. I'm sure after spending many thousands of dollars there had to be one but I just can't seem to recall. What I can recall is that many of them just sounded awful to my ears. Hence the reason I've been through so many of them. Okay so these have great bass, mid-range and sweet treble. What I don't hear much about is what great imaging these have. With my last speakers I always had to lock my head in place in order to find that sweet spot. Not so with these. Depending on the recording, they float a nice center image. With their great off axis response you don't have to do your critical listening locked in some sweet spot.Anyway, I can just go on and on about these. Whether you can afford higher priced speakers or not, give these a shot before looking elsewhere. At a minimum, you'll at least see what's possible at this price point and use that as your benchmark against the more expensive brands. You might just surprise yourself and save a bunch of ducats in the process. Btw, they stand behind the product with a 30-day audition and should you keep them a lifetime warranty. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Since December last year, I bought 3 pairs and that tells you why I gave it 5 star. Great sound for the price, gorgeous looking, the posts on the back for connecting the cables are humongous, I bi-wired them, not sure it really delivers better sound or not but it does give an audiophile look. Definitely recommended! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Recently un updating my Pioneer receiver by one VS Yamaha RX -675 because the Pioneer lacked HDMI inputs, networking functions or internet radio and also decided to upgrade my speakers Sony SF- 7000 ( modified by myself ) with a pair of good sounding speakers but not too expensive. After searching the Internet for weeks and read many reviews I decided to give a try to the Fluance XL7F -DW mainly due to the good reviews and considering the fantastic policy of return of 30 days of Fluance (thanks Fluance). The Fluance XL7F-DW are very well built, details like the piano black finish on the front, or the golden binding post make them look much more expensive than they are.I waited to use them for more than 10 hours, as recommended by the manufacturer, to write my review. Well, the speakers sound dam good considering its price. The sound is very full and balanced, voices sound natural and spatially distributed. I have to confess after listened to some Smooth Jazz and almost the entire collection of Steely Dan that I really like the level of detail of these speakers. The bass is quite strong and tight but without overpowering the rest of the frequencies. I think that a dedicated subwoofer is needed for movies but only if you want to fill the floor shaking. For my taste the only thing that could be improved is the fact that the higher frequencies are slightly attenuated when compared to my friend's truly hi-end speakers that I usually listen to (and cost 10 times more), but I think the XL7F -DW do very well....If you are on a limited budget (as I am) but want the best for your money buy these speakers, listen to them for a few days and you will not disappointment.Note: Remember, these speakers are heavy and tall but the form factor is correct and they look beautiful. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

PaulCThe Fluance XL7F is an attractive hefty three-way floorstanding speaker. I have owned these for nearly two years, in a stereo 2.0 system mainly used for music listening. They are very pleasant sounding, being neither tinny nor bright as many tower degigns seem to be. Low volume performance is pleasing, and at high levels, sound quality remains enjoyable, listening is not mared by objectionable distortion or harshness. They arrive double boxed and well packaged to prevent cosmetic or structural damage during shipping. The box also includes a set of spikes for use on carpeted floors if needed. Fit and finish are above par and they look very elegant even when compared to speakers priced 2x-3x higher per speaker. Although relatively inexpensive the appearance is not cheap and should blend in well with most deacores especially now that more color choices are available. They sound good and are attractive, so why arn't they in my main listening room? Well the answer is they are kind of too mellow. The highs aren't shrill but they also seem a little less crisp. The mids are very nice (especially for voices) but the bass just does not come across with authority. The overall frequency range seems compressed. I have not heard a tower system that didn't need a sub-woofer to fill in the bottom end. I did try bi-amping the speakers but it did not really solve the low end issue. Also while playing some New Age peices the bass would fuzz on extended notes (I tried several speaker placements and modified the rear port to no avail) Now that fuzz sound only occurs on a very few peices and in all other instances the bass that's present is tight.Four stars - They look great, sound nice, play loud without strain and are well priced. You can easily pay more and get less in all aspects. I think they would be fairly ideal n systems with a sub-woofer. They loose a star for the bass falloff since, as of yet, I really don't want a sub-woofer in my system. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Ordered these and they came in a week. I'm in the process of going from a "Home theater in a box" to a full fledged home theater set up. While my new Yamaha receiver hasn't arrived yet...I set about setting these up on my 4 year old Samsung BD 1250 HTIB system to break them in and see how they sounded. They sound pretty darn good. With the AVBP2 BiPolars, the Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel and only my cheapie sub from my HTIB they sound clean and clear. Turn em up and it just seems to get better. They put out a respectable amount of bass as well...the down firing subwoofers seem to do there job pretty well. The fit and finish is more than acceptable but beware, they ARE big.I suspect that once I hook up the Yamaha RX v-673 and the BIC 12" Subwoofer.....it'll sound AMAZING. Also on the big side...in hindsight....I probably should have gone with the 10" as I don't even begin to use the capability this thing has. Lovely sound. Great value for the price. Bought it along with the center channel speaker and a pair of bipolars. Great sound quality especially for music (classical in particular). Very good low-frequency extension with the in-built subwoofer (down-facing driver) which eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer in almost all cases. Like the fidelity of the sound for vocals, string instruments as well as percussion. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

m not a audiophile, but I try to get the best value for the price range I'm working for. I did research and these speakers kept coming up as a very good choice in this price range. I have them tor two weeks now and couldn't be happier. These speakers also have a relatively high amount (and clean) bass, which I was looking for as I started my audio system without a sub. Don't think about it twice and get these if you are in the market for floorstanding speakers in the $500 range. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Gknapp November 20, 2015

Larger than expected; the almost dwarf our 55" plasma. Solid. Sturdy. Awesome warranty. The only con is they are almost too large for the matching Fluance XL7C-DW center. I purchased them together and feel the center channel is unfairly matched with the powerful floor-standing speakers. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Tom R November 20, 2015

I've owned Klipsch, Polk, Acoustic Research, JBL, and Bowers and Wilkins. Over the years I've spent far too much looking for perfect sound. It doesn't exist. Audiophiles will tell you it does. Don't listen. Every speaker reacts differently to varying conditions; amplifier type, room size, layout, shape, volume of space (think ceiling height), objects placed throughout the room, power purity, and number of people in the room. You can spend as much or more as I have searching for perfection or near perfection. Or you can finally realize that value matters in sound. These Fluance XL7F Floorstanders are far and away the best value I've found in sound. Value matters hugely. You could throw a lot of money away trying to impress your friends with the sound your speakers throw or the value you can brag about, but you couldn't do both. With Fluance, you can.The speakers are beautiful, but I don't care about looks. My big floor speakers have to work, they have to age well, and they have to reproduce consistently. Highs have to be high and clear, and envelope me in ice. Mids have to be loud without distortion and warm me. Lows have to reproduce a bass guitar, a cello, a tuba, a bass drum as if they are in the room. If your floor speakers can do that, they will hardly break a sweat for surround movies. The XL7F does all of that for far less money than I spent twenty years ago. Yes, I use a ten inch sub alongside for movies, but for music, it isn't necessary, and let's face it; you buy speakers for music. Movies and television watching are fine, but they aren't ever going to give you an indication of how good your speaker really is.Want to find out how good these Fluance XL7F's are? Play Cyndi Lauper's All Through The Night. That song will test any speaker setup with its timbre and shifting tones. Beethoven's Fifth will force your speakers to keep up or quit. The XL7F's passed with ease.As you approach the best sound you can reproduce from a speaker, you spend more and more money to eek out a little more clarity and a little less "noise" on that last note. My last speakers were a pair of Klipsch with 12" woofers, a full range set of speakers that cost six times as much ten years ago. I recently sold them and used the money to buy these and banked a little extra. Yes, they were awesome speakers and held their value well over the years. But these XL7F's are their equal. Something about those 8" downdriving woofers and bi-amping helps these speakers match the lows of the Klipsch. The highs are equal but not as bright as the Klipsch, which really only factors in as a matter of taste. Mids are mids. Any speaker can do those well, but can they do them great? The Klipsch were amazing. I am happy to say that the Fluance are, too.I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. The speakers are well built and have to be if they are going to reproduce as well as a Klipsch. They are heavy, tall, and stable. I've yet to approach even 60% max power. I'll give it at some point, but I'm not sure how my neighbors will like that. At 50%, in winter with my house sealed up, I can clearly hear my music outside 50' away from my house. Talk about throw!I've since purchased the XLBP Wide Dispersion Bipolar Surround Sounds and XL7C centers from Fluance and they are amazing values, too. Value matters hugely in sound, way more than volume or the mythical perfection standard you can chase for years and never find. I can brag it up with the best of them if how much I paid for my speakers is the measuring stick, because in the end, that's the only thing you're doing when you spend that much money for the best possible sound. It's like owning a Porsche when a Corvette will do.You'll not beat the value of these speakers. The reproduction you get equals a high end Klipsch or B&W. Take my word for it. Or go out and buy the Klipsch, absolutely great speakers, and regret spending so much for so little. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I've had these a couple weeks now and sit down for some listening every evening not to mention that they get used as AV speakers when the TV is running.I got into the idea of upgrading my 15 year old home stereo system a few months ago and spent months researching brands, going to stores to demo gear, and reading tons of reviews online. After tons of reading I decided to take a bang for the buck approach instead of peaking out my budget on the first go around. I bought some excellent condition used Emotiva gear; the USP-1 pre amp, a pair of XPA-100 250w mono block amps, a Emotiva DAC, and a TEAC iPod dock. I made a list of potential speakers starting with the Fluance XL7F's and going up to a few options at $2k.After auditioning B&W 683's, CM-9's, CM-10's, Goldenear Triton 7's, Martin Logan Motion 40's, ESL's, and Magnepan 1.7's I still wasn't any closer to really figuring out which ones to buy or if it was worth it to spend 2 grand+ on a pair of speakers for my first system. I decided to start at the bottom of my list price wise and try the XL7F's since they have a 30 day return period and give them a try.First of all these things are humongous and really stand out in my living room compared to my old speakers. They look great cosmetically and have very robust sets of binding posts on the back about mid way up the speaker cabinet. That's one complaint I have about them is that they put the binding posts so high up on the cabinet instead of near the bottom of the cabinet like most other speakers I've looked at. You lose a good 2' of cable length if you don't want them to be hanging like suspension wires going to your stereo. As far as sound goes it's obviously not as good as some of the more expensive speakers I've demoed but it makes me wonder if it's really worth spending all that much more money for the better speakers. The only other speakers on my list under a grand were the EmpTek E55ti's which I've also heard good things about.I know break in is a contentious topic when it comes to speakers and maybe it's my imagination but these did seem to sound better after several days of use. I experimented with placement and moved them out a few feet from the back wall and about 6 feet from each other and toed in significantly to get the best results. They throw off a nice soundstage with pretty good centered vocals on most recordings and good instrument separation. I have no source for HD audio and only play 44.1 or 48k 16bit audio through my DAC but good quality recordings sound fantastic. Some better engineered recordings even seem to give off a more 3D soundstage presenting sounds far to the left and right of the speakers almost to the point of sounding like surround or side fill. These speakers also have considerable bass which is a plus for a tower like this.My only real complaint about these speakers is that they seem to have very pronounced mids. Supposedly this is due to them being crossed over at like 800Hz which seems odd based on all the other speakers I've looked at. On some recordings that already have a lot of mid sound in them it gets almost unbearable at higher volumes. I could do a lot to mitigate this I think if I had tone controls or an AV receiver with more control or even the ability to bi amp them and then maybe crossover the woofer a little lower. That's just speculation though. Tone controls would probably do the most but my preamp has none. Maybe there's a good reason they cross it over so high but I wish they would do it a little differently to tame the mids some. This isn't to say that it really hurts the sound of the speakers, it's just that it's about the only complaint I can find with these speakers and it's a minor one at that unless you are really picky or just have super high expectations. To be honest I didn't expect these to sound this good when I ordered them and have been pleasantly surprised. I still may try some other speakers just to see if it's really worth it to spend that much more money but it would have to be a big difference to justify it to me. The PSB Image T6 is one of the next ones I wanted to demo but they cost almost triple these at retail. For the cost and sound quality I could see myself being happy with these for quite a while if they hold up well. One other thing is that these can get very LOUD. I probably have more amp than I need pushing these since I can barely crack the throttle and keep it at a reasonable, evening listening level. I got up to about half volume just to try it out and they got unbearably loud but still remained pretty clear with no distortion that I could hear though they did seem to get a little more compressed and beamy and lose their sound stage but since I couldn't stand to be in the same room with them it seemed a moot point. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I've owned it for about 2 months now and I made no mistake with my choice on this products. I was initially looking for good used B&W speakers and other reputable brand but with my budget and the spec that I want it's limited available on the market what I was looking for. I recently got two Rotel bridged mono power amps which power rating at 150w output and wanted to feed each power amp to each speaker which set up was going to eliminate most of bookshelf speakers so my mains are only without a doubt floor standing loudspeakers.Actually, I never heard of Fluance brand until I started to do research my main speakers and when I found about it, for the price it was well fit and spec are just perfect for my need to hook up to my amps. They are just high demand in used market, of cause floor standing type would be a lot higher.I do not want to call it a budget sp and not want to use words entry level sp, it's actually top of the line in Fluence products and it definitely deserve as excellent and well engineered products. Well, that will not bring the best sound from the look and sexiness so how about the sound?I have tried many kind of music rock, classical, techno, soul all play nothing come to short. Can't remember everthing to write though.Yes, the true is it require good amplification so go ahead and choose good amp to drive out of it's best, especially to the music rather than home theater system.Preferably separated system will be the best at least in my case.Even saying max produced products can not be sold at this price, consider to shipping fee a lone it take a big chunk of cost to ratio selling price so I would like to give a lot of credit to the company's working hard and ahh life time warranty too so wish them well all the best. I hope it help everyone and Fluence will keep produce wonderful speakers and even innovate better in the future.Oh, be care with their spike legs it a little short so if you over twist it will come out and your heavy SP will loose balance and might fall so twist it slow, not over do.System set upCreek OBH-14 24bit DAC pre-amplifierTwo Rotel power amp RB-951 bridged mono fed to each speaker.Samsung Blu ray player -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I've had a pair of XL7F's fro a month now and absolutely love them. I was worried about my choice to go with a speaker that i knew nothing about, and have been so pleased that i took a chance with them. These speakers are very revealing, transparent with extensive sound-stage. Classical music and Jazz really open them up. My set are extremely warm and revealing, i love the sound, almost like a electrostatic speaker, but with much more punch. Vocals sound amazing, you'll be shocked by the imaging ability of these speakers. They are really great with video as well which is really nice.As for set up, i use these primarily for music and have them wired to a Infinity interlude sub which seems to be a decent match. I also have a Sonographe SA-120 Amp hooked to a forte F45, which sounds really warm with these speakers. I see many people wondering if their systems can run these speakers, my advice would be 120 watts minimum, I don't know much about surround systems, but would recommend a receiver company that makes solid power Amps for their units....I've always heard that Onkyo makes solid power supplies for their receivers. As for sources, I've been listening to allot of vinyl through these speakers, and they have re-sparked my addiction to searching old record store which i have loved. My table is a Project duet through a Rotel Phono-stage which sounds amazing with these speakers!! Again classical music and Jazz sound best, Rock sounds great to as long as it's mixed properly. For fun i played some classic NWA vinyl 100 miles and running and it sounded great, and had my girlfriend cracking up. Sade sounds amazing, and Tom Pretty's Damn the torpedoes sounds really great too. I recently picked up a bunch of Duke Ellington on vinyl which sounds amazing, it's like the band is in the room with you, and Jazz at the Pawnshop makes me feel like i'm in the bar where it was recorded....Really nice effect. As for CD's, i have an old DVD player that i use; it sounds great to my ear, and streamed music sounds just as nice...On a final note, i once worked in a stereo store selling all high end equipment, Rowland Amps, David Wilson audio speakers, Threshold preamps, Goldmund turntables, all really ultra high end high stuff. We had a Midfi room that had all the Martin logan B&W and similar equipment which is mainly what you sell. The issue with these speakers is where do you put them? If i had a midfi store like most stores, they would make it hard to sell all the other speakers which are twice the price. This is the only reason that i can figure that you don't see them in stores.....they would kill everything else on the floor because of the price.Hope this helps!! I'd also like to hear more about what others think of these.....I love the Sound!!! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I'm using these speakers with a Yahama RX-V379BL receiver. They sound amazing. Even before the recommended 10 hour burn in time, I was hearing things I had never heard in my records before. The Beatles "Revolver" remaster is incredible. The sound stage and positioning of the instruments you hear just from these two speakers is mind-blowing.They also look great. These are extremely stylish in my living room.Watched Ex-Machina last night as well. There is a scene near the beginning with a helicopter, and I would have sworn the thing was landing on my roof.10/10 would recommend and will be purchasing the center channel that matches very soon. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I'm familiar with fluance as I own the AVHTB+ which I think are brilliant speakers... And they are the reason I bought these, if those ones are so good for so little money, I was burning to know what their top of the line speakers sound like. Well these speakers are amazing, they blow the AVHTB out of the water, I was worried my amp might not have enough juice to power these as they are 4 ohm speakers (confirmed this with the company). It's doing ok, I have it nicely ventilated and I haven't cranked the speakers too hard, going to get a better amp in the next week. The first couple of hours they sounded a little off, it's true about break in period because they really sounded better after a couple of hours. I played cds I've owned for 15 years and have heard on dozens of sound systems, I heard things in the albums I've not heard before. They are really nicely balanced, perfect amount of bass, they need some volume though, with the amp turned down for late at night listening they are just there, but when you turn it up they really come alive. Although taste is subjective I think they sound a little better than the B&W 605's I've heard, I really liked those speakers but I think I'm more of a fan of silk domed tweeters rather than aluminum or titanium, the B&W's to me sounded a little harsh at the high end. They certainly sound better than the mid range Klipsch and Polks I've listened too and they look much better.... I can't believe these speakers are so cheap, they don't look or sound cheap, the build quality is amazing, for instance the rear binding posts are ridiculous, there is no need for them, they are massive, they make my 12 gauge speaker wire look pathetic. These suckers are big too, very tall and heavy, they weigh almost 50lbs each I was going to have them as part of a surround sound system and maybe use the towers for the AVHTB as rears but now I think I might just go to 2.0. I don't think I need surround sound anymore, I'm starting to think it's a substitute for powerful speakers and amps, I can't wait to see what a 200 watt per channel 2.0 amp can do to these. You can color me a Fluance fanboy now. Realistically the only way I think these speakers could be improved is with real wood veneer rather than vinyl. Don't get me wrong I think the vinyl looks great, it even has wood grain indentations in it, but that is the only improvement I think that could be made, I don't see how the sound can be improved. No, I've never heard $20,000 audiophile setups and I probably never will, my setup costs less than a grand and its the best I've ever heard anywhere.review image -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I'll get right too the point. if you have at least 80 watts a channel on your reciever these speakers will perform fine, I emailed fluance and they told me the speakers are 80 to 200 watts at 8ohms. I'm pushing 100 watts per channel and they crank. These speakers sound bad a** with music there's no need for a sub. I Highly recommend these speakers -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I was hesitant to buy these speakers despite all the 5 star reviews but once I heard xl7f, there was no doubt I made a great purchase. The mids are very good and lows are subtle yet powerful. Get these and you'll be amazed by the value you get for $500 usd. My karaoke system has just been upped a notch. Loving it! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I was looking for a pair of speakers that would fill a large, finished basement, which is where I listen to music. I am fairly picky about sound quality, but I did not want to spend a lot of money. I decided to take a chance on these, and I have been quite impressed with their sound quality. My system consists of a Yamaha receiver (100 w/ch), an NAD CD player, and a Project Carbon turntable (yes, I am old enough that I have a lot of records.) I tried these out with all types of music -- classic rock, alternative rock, reggae, blues, jazz, and classical -- and they really do a great job of handling everything. They put out plenty of bass, so there is no need for a powered subwoofer.I found that, as with most speakers, placement is very important. I had them near the wall, in a corner, and the bass was a bit too "boomy." I moved them out of the corner and away from the wall about a foot, and the sound is much more balanced. With a good quality CD or record, it sounds like the musicians are playing right in the room. Sound reproduction is very accurate, and I can clearly hear individual instruments. These speakers are not just a great value; they are great speakers! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I waited and watched these speakers, read all the reviews. I still had doubts, not a name I heard of. I was considering polk, or klipsch. Then I said, what the heck I can just return them if I don't like them. Well they arrived a day early, I set them up carefully, opening the boxes so as to easily repackage when I didn't like them. I promptly discarded all the boxes as soon as I heard the first note. I didn't want to be disappointed, when I made them work a little hard, so I broke them in right. These are in an office (man-cave) over a detached garage, so I left them on at a decent volume overnight. Holy cow! You will be digging up all your old music just to see what it sounds like. They handled everything I could throw at them from Abba-Zeppelin. I think my whole neighborhood heard Steely Dan Peg at the full 170 watts my Pioneer Elite could muster. And no I am not a spokesman for Fluance. If I didn't think my phone would ring off the hook, I would provide it here. Bottom line, best $500 I have spent in years on electronics, and I'm an Apple maniac so that will tell you something. I took a chance on these speakers after reading all the outstanding reviews here on Amazon. It took me a little bit, and an hour or two, to get used to them since I was running a pair of vintage speakers but once I got familiar with them I was blown away. I have a vintage Sansui AU717 integrated amplifier with the matching TU717 tuner. My system matches really well with these speakers. To get the exact sound I was looking for I had to adjust the bass and treble and also found that to get the really punchy sound that I like use the loudness switch at low volume. It's also true that after 10 or so hours of break in the clarity really improves. I've got maybe 20 hours into them now and they really sound good! I listen mainly to cds and can really tell the difference now between a quality recording and something lesser. The newer albums and remasters whether its rock, blues, or folk which I mainly listen to blow me away. No regrets with the XL7f's. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

i researched speakers through amazons vast selection, and chose these fluence xl7f s.i could not be any happier.the speakers produce pristine sound.i originally had these set up as dedicated speakers for home theater and music.connected to a yamaha rxa2020 the music sounds great.i have since added a center speaker and rear surrounds.for home theater the xl7f sound good alone or great in this set up.i only echo what has already been said about these speakers.i would also say that the speakers are substantial and ''feel'' like quality.the shipping on these were fast,i ordered on a sun eve and they were delivered on tues.the speakers were very well packaged, double boxed with plenty of foam.kudos to a company that seems to have a great product at a reasonable price. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I received my speakers exactly when they were supposed to be delivered. The speakers were very well packaged in 2 boxes one inside the other with packing materials to keep them protected. Each speaker is packed individually. My speakers had no damage they look great. They say the speakers need 10hrs of break in time but as soon as I hooked them up they sounded unbelievable. Everytime I play them they sound better and better so I guess that's the breaking in they're talking about. The price for these speakers is insane. Please do yourself and your ears a favor if you need new speakers please listen to me and all other Fluance Speaker customers don't hesitate buy these speakers you'll be very happy you did. I know you will enjoy them just as I am. My music never sounded so .good. Thanks Fluance for giving me a great speaker at a great price. I previously had a mid-range Polk 5.1 system that I was quite pleased with, but when I rearranged my home theater/music room I decided it was time to trade in the surround system for a good set of floorstanding speakers -- preferably with good bass response so I wouldn't have to add another subwoofer. I went online to read reviews, find advice and get recommendations for a high-quality system that wouldn't break the bank, and time and again the name that kept coming up was "Fluance." I quickly decided the XL7F's were the best fit for my needs and ordered them.Boy am I glad I did! They arrived several days earlier than they were expected to (thanks Fluance and UPS!) and I got them wired up quite easily. I went with a bi-amp setup with my Yamaha receiver to maximize the amount of power going to the drivers (95 watts going to each speaker's tweeter/woofers and another 95 going to the subwoofer, for a total of 380 watts). After a day of conditioning, as recommended by the manufacturer, the speakers sound sweet and accurate.I'd had my eye on Bose 901's for a few years, and briefly considered finally pulling the trigger on them, but at almost three times the price of the XL7F's, it was a no brainer going with Fluance. Even my neighbor, who swears by PSB, had to admit these towers sounded great. At the full retail price of just under $500, these are an amazing value -- and if you can get them when they're on sale, it would be almost criminal not to buy them! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Jeffrey L. Orr November 20, 2015

I ordered these in the middle of December 2013. They were backordered. I had already purchased the Fluance XLBP Wide Dispersion Bipolar surround speakers and the XL7C Center speaker. The XL7Fs did not arrive until January 20, 2014. I was very anxious to hook everything up and listen. Well, they were worth the wait. Movies (DVD, Blu-ray) sound fantastic to me. As a good as a movie theater. I started playing my vinyl lp's and they do sound clear and detailed. CD's sound better than I remember. Even regular TV has much fuller sound and detail. With each of these having an 8 inch down firing woofer at the bottom, the bass response is solid. I don't know if I need a subwoofer.I plan to bi-amp these speakers in the near future for even cleaner sound. Also, I really like the way they look. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I love these speakers. They have clear and well balanced sound, I was amazed when I saw the quality of materials used in building them, they even have gold plated cable connectors for optimum transmission. i will definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for awesound sound that won't break the bank. The screen is removable and you can definitely feel the quality in the fabric unlike most of the other more expensive options. This company has great customer service as they guided me on what receiver specifications, speaker cables and positioning. Thank you Fluance. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I just got these and really like the way they look and sound. I have been using Martin Logan MLT-2 5.1 speakers for about a year now and wanted something a little bigger up front. I now have the MLT-2 speakers as my side and rear surround speakers and the XL7F speakers as my front speakers in a 7.1 setup. I have been using the XL7F's for about a week now and like the sound from them but only just connected the other speakers, so I cannot comment yet on how well they all work together.I am, at best, an amateur audiofile, and I am nowhere near having what anyone would call trained ears, so I can't really provide much usefull information on the quality of the sound coming from the speakers beyond that they sound good to me.I can add that these are 4-ohm speakers. I think one other reviewer said they were 6-ohm speakers but they clearly say 4-ohms on the back. I have an Onkyo TX-NR717 receiver and it is more than adequate to power the speakers. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I have three words to describe my new Fluance speakers. They're BEAUTIFUL and SOUND AMAZING! I was delightedto find the speakers to be everything I had read about in thereviews and description. I have just purchased a pair of these Fluance XL7F speakers- I purchased them to compliment my music system and was blown away by the dynamic sound that they produced. The down firing 8" woofer is fantastic! Rock and blues sound like the performer was in the man cave with me. You can literally feel the bass sound waves. I was a little skeptical at first but am more than satisfied with my purchase. The speakers have a clarity that you have to hear to believe. A great product at a good price. Highly recommended. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Ryan Kenkel November 20, 2015

I don't usually gamble on a product that costs $499.99. It is truly terrible to invest a lot of money in something and have it backfire. I bought these speakers straight from the Fluance website, and without having an opportunity to see or hear them in person, I was nervous about what would actually show up at my doorstep. Well, these speakers look and sound beautiful. They are solidly constructed, and the grills, cherry finish, and piano-black front all compliment each other well. To my ears, they are slightly tailored to the low end of the sound spectrum, but I prefer that since I'm using them without a subwoofer in a simple 2.0 system. I know it's a cliched statement among speaker reviews, but I am actually hearing new sounds and presence in songs that I have heard a thousand times before. Everything sounds full and alive. (I listen to Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Kanye West, Katy Perry, etc.--It has handled everything well.)I bought these primarily for music. Those looking for a true cinema experience with movies should invest in either the entire 5.1 system or look elsewhere. I am running these with a Sony STR-DN30 receiver, and I use the built-in Bluetooth feature on the receiver for streaming my music since it's so easy and still sounds great.I am now a Fluance convert. I will definitely look to them for my music needs before looking elsewhere from now on. Five huge, huge stars! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Ed Jones November 20, 2015

I give these 5 stars based on performance for the price. You can spend a lot more money for the same level of quality but there is no need. If you're a true audiophile with the budget to support that, then these aren't for you. Perhaps Magneplanars are what you're looking for. But for the rest of us, there is tremendous bang-for-the-buck here. These are clearly meant primarily for home theater applications and they do very well here. Occasionally I'll listen to music with these as well. Once I broke them in, I played some classical, pop, and techno music. They faithfully reproduced the sound stage and were relatively clear. The 8" woofers that are downward firing are crossed over pretty high apparently because I removed the jumpers and just fed the woofer. I could plainly hear dialog coming from them. So that seems a bit odd to have mid-bass frequencies heading toward the floor. I would not consider these to be sub-woofers and I think you still need a quality sub to reproduce the LFE track for home theater or provide low bass with music. But all-in-all these are a great value for most of us who know better than to buy Bose, but don't really want to spend an order of magnitude more money to get into true audiophile level reproduction. I would highly recommend them. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I decided to give these a try as a inexpensive pair of speakers to put in my home theater room in place of my Paradigm Studio 60's and have moved the 60's to a newly constructed listening room. I am not sure how Fluance does it but these things are amazing for the little bit of money they are priced at. Took a week to really break them in and took some tweaking as far as placement -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I can't believe how impressed I am with these speakers! I've been breaking them in this past week per the instructions and finally opened them up this weekend. Very clean and airy sound. I'm driving them bi-amped with a Denon AVR-X4000 receiver along with a Fluance XL7C center channel speaker. Using using CD, audio DVD and audiophile quality LP source material, everything from pop, jazz and rock sounds the way it should. I might go in and tweak up the bass a bit because I really like to FEEL my music! The speakers came very well packaged in double boxes with 4 brass screw-in points to provide a good contact with my carpeted floor. They have locking rings on them to adjust for any rocking issues one might have on a hard floor, but on carpet, just make sure they're tight against the point body and screw them into the threaded inserts on the bottom of the speaker. The speakers have plastic bags covering them while inside the boxes and inside the bags are several pouches of silica gel desiccant. Make sure all the desiccant bags have been removed before running the speakers, or a very nasty sound will surly be produced! I found a couple bags lodged between the woofer and the speaker base. Don't think any were stuffed into the speaker ports, but check to make sure!Speaker connections are made through four VERY HEAVY, gold plated screw terminals. Other reviewers have commented on these and now I see why. They're massive! Bare wires, up to probably 6 gauge could easily fit in them, or banana plugs could be used. A gold plated bar runs through each set of connections for those who do not have a bi-amp capable amplifier. That _may_ make it a little difficult to use real heavy gauge bare wire - could be why the holes are so big.The wood grain finish looks very nice and the gloss black on the trim and bottom front is a nice balance. For the asking price of $500 a pair, there's no way you could go wrong! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I could easily run out of superlatives here. This gets lengthy, so here is a synopsis for the quick read:These speakers are absolutely amazing. I still cannot believe I obtained such an amazing set of speakers for this price. It still seems impossible. I doubt any speakers can be had that are significantly better for even triple the price. I'm a bit of a cynic and have not been very happy with the typical value I get for my money in the gutted US economy in the past few years. But here I am thinking: "Have I EVER gotten a better value than 500 bucks for these speakers?" If I have, I don't remember it.End synopsis.Details:My new XL7F main speakers arrived today. UPS gave both boxes a good beating with some holes in the outer. Gasp... I kept the UPS guy here while I unboxed them in case I had to refuse them due to damage. However, Fluance had the speakers double boxed and well encased in foam, so the speakers are in perfect shape. One puncture made it all the way into the foam layer but NOT through it. Sigh of relief. I let the UPS guy escape. ;-)Sound and performance:I'm observing the 10 hour normal volume break in period as per Fluance, so I can't report on what these speakers sound like when cranked. Just like the Fluance center channel review I did a few days back where I said the Fluance XL7C was grossly better than 2 Klipsch reference models I'd tried and one Infinity I owned, the XL7F mains have far better tonal balance, clarity and overall sound than some older Klipsch mains I had and some JBL4800's I've had around forever. And Fluance does it for less than 1/3 the cost of the others I mentioned.I'm flabbergasted. How can this be possible? That I cannot answer. But it is truth. More:I'm blown away. The crossovers in these things must be leagues ahead of my previous older speakers.I'm not an audiophile, so I lack the vernacular to give these speakers the praise they deserve. Everything from high frequency treble tones to mid range to mid bass to bass is stellar and exceptionally well balanced. Low bass is so well done and powerful, I turned my Yamaha subs down 1 notch each to "3". Playing Avatar right now and I have to say: I really am watching it again "...for the first time...". The sound absolutely sends chills down my spine.I've tried music, of course. Everything from Alan Jackson to AC/DC to classical, and again, it is an epiphany. I don't want to say it is good as being there live because frankly, concert sound and acoustics almost always suck. There's my cynicism again... I suspect what I'm hearing is something like it would be to experience these performers in a professional recording studio. Yeah, I know, I probably can't imagine that. My point is: It far exceeds anything I've ever heard in concert with one exception: Power. I haven't cranked it up yet due to break in ~ and obviously, concerts can get loud enough to damage or destroy hearing. I doubt I'll ever know how loud the Fluance's can go because I'm not going to damage my ears for the sake of a review. But I'll try to remember to update this review when I've tried these speakers out for power after the break in period.I've demoed some other speakers at stores, but I don't think that is a fair comparison because the acoustics of most store demo chambers isn't usually optimized for one set of speakers. I see such environments as pretty good but kind of mediocre for all. I can't set up all those speakers in my home for direct comparison, so I'm leaving my subjective observations of those out. Suffice to say: I didn't find anything that sounded this spectacular. But again, all were in mediocre listening environments comparatively, IMHO.Appearance:I'm a former auto body guy and auto painter, so I'm arguably pretty detail oriented. The speaker cabinets are beautiful. I find it hard to believe they are MDF. I can find a few waves and dimples here and there, but I really have to look for them. Just as with the sound quality, I am amazed at the cabinet quality for the price. One thing the pictures just don't show: The speaker cones aren't just bright white. Instead, they appear about like a Mitsubishi pearl white metallic (auto paint) but with a subdued sheen - semi-gloss, I'll call it. That is a good thing; no glare from the cones during home theater. There is some glare from the piano gloss black front panels but it is not distracting and just plain makes the assemblies look classy. IOW, I think the gloss is ok on a dark color like black but might not be had they made the bright pearl white speaker cones glossy. So just as with other features and sound, it appears Fluance was determined to make smart design choices throughout.Final thoughts on appearance: The pictures make the XL7F look kinda' fat or stodgy. Maybe it's because of the comparison with my old speakers, but in person, they look pretty sleek. So glad I didn't go for the super skinny/tall cute little towers. There is no way I can see that tiny drivers could sound like these. The appearance is gorgeous and I'm proud to have them in my home theater. One note on color: Like the center channel, I would describe the color more like a rich medium mahogany than cherry. I do believe cherry can go this dark, but it isn't what I usually see when a maker says "cherry". I'm glad for this. It matches my homemade TV riser's stain perfectly. Not that anyone else cares about that part, just sayin'. To me, they are in the mahogany range of colors and I really like that, too. Conclusion:If you are on the fence about ordering speakers without getting to demo them ***like I was***, fear not. In this price range or even 3x, I doubt there is anything this excellent. Are they perfect? I don't have the training and background to say that. But I sure can't hear ANY bad habits whatsoever. The sound is vastly better than any other speakers I have owned or ordered/returned.Another excellent perk for me: I have an old Yamaha R-V1105. A pretty good pre-HDMI AVR with some 5.1 features. Reset to 4 ohm for the Fluance mains, the Yami supposedly puts out 170 watts per channel on the mains. One thing sadly lacking in my Yami AVR: No graphic or parametric equalizer and no YPAO to adjust such tones/frequency balances automatically. Here's the big plus for me: The Fluance speaker absolutely NAIL the balance of tones/frequencies, IMO. So for me, it is like the speakers gave me something the Yami AVR never did before -- perfect tone/frequency balance. My purchase sequence went like this: Fluance center channel speaker XL7C was excellent - far better than the others I owned or tried and returned. On that basis, I ordered the mains. I'm blown away. Continuing the inevitable sequence, I got in on the great pre-order half price deal on the XLBF wide dispersion bipolar surrounds for my back channel speakers. Those are a couple of weeks out from shipping, but that kind of price chop from these value masters and I had to do it.I give Fluance XL7F and XL7C speakers my **highest recommendation**. The jury is still out on the XLBF's because they haven't shipped yet.If you think maybe I work for Fluance, I don't. I'm an early retired guy living out in the sticks in the SW Colorado mountains. Check out my few other Amazon reviews and you'll see that I'm real. Please remember before ordering to check if your AVR can be set to tolerate 4 ohms. Lower dollar AVR's may or may NOT have this capability. Tip: Furthermore, please remember to have your AVR turned off and maybe even unplugged before you switch impedance - and make sure the switch goes all the way. My AVR has a not great quality switch and it kinda' wanted to stick half way. Switching impedance with the unit on can damage some AVR's like my older Yamaha. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I debated with myself for five weeks on wether I wanted to get the fluance bookshelf speakers or splurge for these monster floor standing speakers, and boy am I glad I went with the floorstanding speakers.Prior to purchasing these I was using a set of cheap Sony floorstanding speakers as my main speakers. Well I decided to add a center channel speaker and decided on the fluance center. Well I got more fedelity out the fluance center than both the Sony speakers combined, and decided an upgrade was due and replaced them with these. The sound is unbelievably good. Seriously the sound stage is huge on these things. Music comes alive and if you have been using cheaper speakers you hear an impressive improvement. I paired these with a new 10" klipsch subwoofer, and they pair fantastically together. Jethro Tull never sounded so good.Fluance customer service is fantastic, and I had the speakers in three days! Impressive. If your looking good speakers and don't have 1000 to spend on a speaker, then fluance may just be the right choice for you. I like these speakers so much I plan to buy a second pair for the TV room soon. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I can not believe the detail, the craftsmanship, the impressive sound, the price!!!! Exceptional! Really slow shipping...delayed gratification..but serious gratification! I bought Diamond Wharfedales in August ( Buy.com)...for another room, same price, NO Comparison. These sound beautiful. I don't know what it is about Canada and speakers but they seem to be doing something right! ( btw these things are BIG...so they might not fit in a small room). -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I can't beleive the sound from these speakers. The clarity is amazing. I looked at many speakers locally in the $300-$700 apeice price range and saw these for $500 a pair. All I could find were rave reviews on these speakers and with the 30 day return policy I figured I had nothing to lose. After the recommended break in period I am extremely happy with them and would buy them again in a second. They easily compare to speakers twice the price. I am using a Denon 2313CI to push them wired bi amped and the bass response is surprising. Crystal clear highs and mids. Movies sound great, but they really show their stuff with music. Everything from classical to metal. When you are in front of the speakers you don't realize how loud they are playing until you go to a different part of the house. With very little distortion all you hear is the details of the music. Highly recommended. They are big, heavy speakers and they do need a a good area to fill but I can't imagine a better deal for the money. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I bought these speakers to be used in my basement man cave, a very large room, 18 x 30. For reference sake, my main listening room is upstairs, powered by a 250 WPC Carver TFM35 amp and Carver CT17 preamp/tuner, audio sources are a Tascam CC-22mkII for cassettes and cd's, and a Tascam CD-200i for my ipod. These play through Bose 901 Series VI speakers augmented with a Polk PSW505 subwoofer. The sound this system puts out is phenomenal, but not often used as nobody can be home but me when it's in use! So into the man cave went these Fluance speakers. Down there the system is powered by a vintage Sansui AU-G77XII integrated amp, 110 WPC into 8 ohms, with unknown wattage now as it's powering these Fluance 4OHM speakers and a pair of vintage OHM Walsh II speakers, and also in the mix is a Polk PS10 subwoofer. I can say that the amp has had no issues powering this four speaker set-up to ear bleeding levels. The audio sources are a Yamaha T85 tuner and a Panasonic DMP-BDT500 BluRay player. This BluRay player I use for BluRay concert videos, cd's, music stored on SD cards, and concert videos stored on a hard drive. The day the speakers arrived only one was delivered so it got set up and broken in overnight. When the 2nd speaker arrived the following day and was hooked up, there was a noticeable difference between the broken in speaker and the new one, particularly in the upper midrange, and the attack on snare drums was subdued at first, so the break in period is very important. All four speakers are set up along the 30 foot wall, with the Walsh II's in the far corners of the room and the XL7F's set 10 feet apart, five feet from the centerline of the room away in each direction so all speakers are 10 feet from the next closest one. Since the break in period I have thrown a lot at these speakers and they have handled all of it pretty well. Where this speaker suffers a bit is in dense rock and roll, where it can get a bit muddy with a lot happening all at once. Also with the Walsh II's shut off the soundstage of these speakers is noticeably limited in comparison to the Walsh II's and to the 901's upstairs, but what I have found is in a room this size this set-up works beautifully, presenting great sound across a very wide sound stage. I tried the set-up without the subwoofer at first and the XL7F's produced substantial, undistorted bass while playing Bach's Toccata & Fugue from the Telarc Sampler Volume 1, which has pipe organ notes down to about 25 hertz. With the subwoofer on this same selection rattled the joists in the ceiling. Particularly impressive was how they handled Tink Walks Amok from Frank Zappa's Man From Utopia. This is a very demanding instrumental for any speakers, and XL7F's shined at very high volume. Yes there are better sounding speakers out there at considerably higher cost. At $499.00 a pair I don't know where a better bargain can be found for a speaker that looks and sounds this good. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I bought these speakers + center speaker three weeks ago via amazon to complement my in-ceiling speakers setup mainly for a better music experience. The build quality and looks of these speakers are fantastic. Nothing looks cheap. I am surprised how they can pull this one of at such a low price. Without the screen they just look beautiful and fit in every living room. After listening to the speakers for three weeks now, the sound is decent but not great. I am mainly listening to classical music, some folk and pop, sometimes electronic. The speakers are pleasing to the ear. There is the hint of a stage and with some better recordings you can position instruments and voices. All in all, its a pleasure to listen to these speakers and I enjoy the music they play quite a bit. I do not have any bass problems as expressed by some reviewers (but this might be in part due to my Yamaha receiver, which is rather known for the treble/mid focus instead of bass).Given the rave reviews by many others I was nonetheless a little bit disappointed. These speakers may sound excellent for a pair of $500 speakers. But they do not sound like speakers well above this level. In comparison to my main speaker (B&W CM series) a lot is left to be desired. While listening to music with the latter I am regularly excited how wonderful some pieces of classical music sound. With the fluance, you don't get that. All in all, a set of beautiful looking speakers with good but not great sound. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I bought these for my dedicated home theater strictly based upon the positive reviews. Initially I was skeptical because I had spent so much time researching other speakers. However, boy am I glad I did. First, it took two UPS guys to carry each speaker to the house. They were packaged impeccably and once I removed them from their boxes it was immediately apparent that these were well-made quality speakers. Keep in mind, that I hadn't even made any connections yet. I just put them in position and starred at them for awhile. But once they were connected and they system was up and running, the sound was just spectacular. Music and movies are equally pleasing. Last night was our inaugural showing and we chose Lone Survivor. The sounds from the gunfire and explosions are beyond describing. It really made you feel like you're literally standing there. Everyone in the room was in awe. I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I am one very satisfied customer and isn't that what we're actually trying to achieve. These Fluance speakers combined with their center speaker will not let you down. Go ahead and take the plunge. You won't regret it. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I am old school heavy gear so I'm running these speakers as stand alone tower speakers via 80's vintage analog Pioneer SX-5590 receiver/amp pushing 200w x 6 channels. I am very pleased with the look and finish of these speakers, I choose the Dark Cherry finish. The real substance to these speakers is in the sharp thumping bass which is what I like when listening to classic rock & country with a very crisp mid-range. The highs are a bit washed out but that may be because of the excellent bass response but let's wait until after the 10 hour break in, nothing a few knob turns can't fix.You could spend a whole lot more for the usual brand names and not get anymore speaker for your money. If you have unlimited funds then you're probably not reading this in the first place but so often with audio it really boils down to what sounds good to you. Most of what you are paying for with overpriced audio and "name brand" components only 1% of the listening audience can distinguish; meaning a waste of money if you ask me. I spent hours researching tower speakers and reading many reviews. I bought these. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I am not an audiophile. The last set of true stereo speakers I purchased was in 1975. With the advent of flat screen TV and blue ray DVDs, I decided to upgrade sound quality from using just TV speakers. After extensive research and consideration of much more expensive tower speakers, I decided that the Fluance XL7F was the best value. So I ordered the pair through Amazon and they arrived within a week. I also purchased a Denon AVR-1713 receiver. Fluance XL7F speakers are the best I've ever owned. The downfiring subwoofers provide sufficiently strong bass attributes to convince me that I don't really need a separate subwoofer. The speaker towers are fairly large and substantial but I like the height, which provides seemingly integrated sound projection at a height that complements our 46" flat screen TV. And the quality of the speaker finishes give them a nice furniture accessory look. Whether playing cable music or a blue ray DVD, sound is crisp, clear, and well balanced from low to ultra-high volume. I can never go back to flat screen TV sound. The tower speakers give me all the sound that I really need and that was my original intent in getting the XL7Fs. Even so, I am so impressed with the quality and sound that I plan to expand my Fluance speaker collection in the future to achieve full 5 channel effect. I am Fluance's newest fan. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I almost wanted to give them 2 stars just to keep people from finding out about our little secret. I purchased the dark mahogany from the Fluance web site ( free shipping) and they are not just speakers but a beautiful addition to any rooms decor. After you get over how good looking they are get ready for the best part, how they sound. Do yourself a favor and follow the manufactures suggestion about the 10 hour break in period ( harder than it sounds ) and then you can turn them up and really hear the quality that has gone into them. Foot note: make sure you have some Banana Connectors as they are set up for them. If you have never seen a bi-polar connector on the back of the speaker it is confusing at first. There are four connectors, two left and two right. When you receive the speakers there is a rod connecting them, leave the rod in if you are not using a bi-polar amp. and just use the top connectors.I still can't believe how good they sound. The bass is amazing and the highs are incredible. If you want a great speaker but you are on a budget these are for you. If you are looking at speakers that cost $1000 a pair save yourself some cash and get a pair of these. You will love them. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

I absolutely love these Fluance speakers. I am not an audiophile but I really appreciate quality sound. I can't disagree with others' views on sound quality but I have not found a better sounding speaker. I have had them for a month now and listen to them mostly for music and some movie watching. Delivery was good and the double packaging was excellent. Shipping is included and no tax!I too bought these speakers sight unseen and trusted the reviews here. I also trusted the 30 day free return period. I have never purchased speakers without hearing them. But then I have never seen as many positive ratings on speakers as these. Thanks to all for your honest reviews.I started out shopping and researching soundbars and found them to be overpriced and the sound quality was just not there. I looked at bookshelf front speakers and decided that floor standing speakers would give much better fidelity. I listened to as many brands as possible. The other well known brand floor standing speaker tweeters just sounded harsh and tinny. Mid range sound and bass was lacking for them also. I couldn't see paying 2 or 3 or even 4 times the price compared to these speakers.Do wait for the break in period, I originally was disappointed out of the box but it is unbelievable how much the sound quality improves with time. It seems like they are better each time I fire them up. I am running a Sony STR-850 receiver, which is excellent and was bought to upgrade an old Harmon receiver that did not have HDMI's. I biamp wired these speakers.Back to the speakers, they are highly recommended, will not disappoint most people, other than the 2% or so professed audiophiles. I cannot imagine a better sounding speaker, even if you are spending a ton of money. I can tell you the silk dome tweeters have a really smooth and crystal clear sound and the mids and bass sound is terrific for their size. Whether or not you need a subwoofer is personal preference with these speakers. I plan to add the Fluance sub to my setup next. I am not looking to shake the house but am looking to get their quality sub. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Have had the speakers for about a week now. Set up was pretty easy. Sound great. Able to hear sounds I couldn't with my previous speakers. Have a decent small amount of bass, not overpowering. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is they do seem a little top heavy and could tip over easier than I would like. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Great speakers. Can't say I can compare them to anything else, as I haven't had a proper stereo in years and never with really good equipment, but these sound great to me. Plus, they look great in my living room, like real furniture. I've got them hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V675 and they sound great together. Planning to buy the Fluance XL Bipolar Speakers shortly to get surround sound, now that I've heard how good these are.I should add that I didn't actually like them as much at first, and thought maybe my standards were too high or maybe the settings on my stereo were wrong, since it was new as well. Not that they sounded bad, but it just wasn't bassy enough and the sound wasn't as full as I expected. And since I had hooked them up using the bi-amp settings which is a little confusing, I thought maybe I had done something wrong. I mean, the subwoofer on the bottom wasn't even doing anything, and I didn't think that was right. After a week of screwing around with the settings on the stereo, I was about to call Fluance customer support to see if they had any suggestions, but then I checked the back of the stereo and saw that all of the lower bi-amp speaker wires had come out; meaning I wasn't using the lower range speakers at all. Duh. Must have fallen out as soon as I had pushed it into place, and I'm soooo glad I didn't look stupid calling Fluance over something that obvious. I went ahead and bought banana plugs because hooking up the wires to the stereo was so difficult and now they sound perfect (didn't need the plugs to connect to the speakers, since that's much easier). I honestly would have been satisfied the way it sounded before and was planning to give them four stars, but now I'm so much happier. I'm finding that certain songs have bass that I didn't even know about before. One last thing is that I had an issue where they only sent me one speaker, and worried that I had gotten ripped off or read the website wrong. But after sending an email asking about it that night, I got an email saying it was a mistake and the other one arrived early the next morning, which is faster than I thought possible. So I've got no complaints, except I wish they had used that super-fast shipping for the first speaker, since it took a week for that one to arrive by UPS ground. Of course, I usually get everything with Amazon Prime, so perhaps I'm just a little spoiled. But everything's good now. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Great F'n pair of speakers! Had a pair of old CWV VS-120's for years. These 8's hit harder than my old 12's ever did and the mids and highs hold up to the high volume test. The bi-amp feature alone is worth consideration. No other speaker in the life range has the capability and boy does it make a heck of a difference. DO NOT purchase if your reciever doesn't push at least 100w per channel and unless you plan on bi-amping. You would be doing a disservice to the speakers.I've pkayed them in the 2 channel mode and they fill up my living room, with a vaulted ceiling, no problem. I also have played with two subwoofers and you can still hear the 8's hitting without any distortion.Sound great while watching dvd's. Way more clarity than I ever got withy CWV's. Seriously am going to purchase a new Yamaha reciever that pushes 140-150w per channel just so I can enjoy these even more.If you are looking for boss speakers, these are the best bang for the buck. Look up all the reviews.DO IT.review image -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Fluance was right on when they described these speakers as High performance loud speakers. I ordered the xl7f dark walnut which basically looks espresso. I power these speakers with Yamaha Rx-v377 receiver in a 12'x14' room with a polk audio 12" psw505 sub and with surround speakers. I was skeptical as anyone would be ordering speakers you cant listen too before you buy them and i am anything but disapointed. Once you get pass the break in time which Fluance stated 10 hours of normal listening the speakers really come to life. They sound great with all kinds of music and definitely movies. I would buy again and recommend. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Fluance had me convinced as to the quality of their product after I purchased their SV10S High Fidelity Surround Sound Speakers for my dining area. They sounded amazing. I found it hard to believe how amazing considering the price.I read the reviews on the Fluance XL7F speakers, and anxiously waited for the the UPS God for delivery. The were well double packaged and all in perfect condition. After patiently waiting for the 10 hour seasoning period. Put on my the usual Rush 2112 (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab mastered) and The new Immersion Dark Side of the moon. I swear I hear things I have never heard before, rich highs and the bottom was so deep that I put away my subwoofer.Fluance can offer these great speakers at this great price because they sell them straight from their own manufacturing plant. So you are not paying for the middle man, or any other extra costs involved.I strongly suggest trying these out for the 30 day money back guarantee period before you spend 2000 on speakers that do not sound as good! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Cannot say enough good things about these speakers. For the price the sound is unreal. Really good looking and the quality of the sound put my old speakers to shame. Old system was a 2.1 Monitor Audio set up. Yes they are much smaller with 2-way book shelf speakers and a small sub compared to these, but the Monitor Audio's cost a whole lot more and the sound is in no way comparable. The Fluance's are well put together. UPS/Fedex is going to abuse the hell out of the boxes, but don't worry, they are double boxed with a lot of foam inside. My boxes were torn up badly but inside was just fine. For the price I doubt you can find a better deal anywhere. One note these are full sized floor standing speakers. Check out the dimensions, I was a bit surprised at their actual size. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Bought a pair of these a few months ago and could not be more pleased. I would put these up against any JBL, Klipsch or Polk Audio units in the same class. They sound terrific and for $499 a pair, what a deal. The speakers were double packaged and when unpacked, no damage, dings or blemishes. They look very high end as well with very beefy binding posts and I am using mine bi-amped. I highly recommend the speakers to everyone, especially people who have a budget, you can't go wrong. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

Bought a pair of XL7F floor standing speakers with cherry finish. They arrived fast, within few days, even though initial shipping estimate indicated few weeks. The build quality is solid and sound is amazing. I have hooked them up with Yamaha RX-575 receiver in bi-amp configuration and have been very satisfied with the sound quality. These seemed to be reasonably priced compared to other quality speaker brands like PSB etc -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

AWESOME! Quality built and phenomenal sound! Ordered 2 they came listened to for about 2 hours and ordered 2 more for 4 speaker system in living room. Don't know how they could sound any better. Clear at even very high volumes. Silk dome tweeters just make enough of a spacious high end sound to give a bit of airy sound that just compliments the bass in a perfect way. Great separation to make you feel you have the artist right there playing for you. Can't say enough!! Probably one of the most underrated speakers in the market. Fast, free delivery. (mine came in 2 business day). Also, the whole audiophile community is raving what a tremendous value these babies are. Very satisfied! -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.

As this is my first set of actual speakers, I didn't know what to expect. I was young; ears untrained. The sound that came out of these towers was something I had only dreamed about. For I, the uninitiated, turned these beautiful speakers on for the first time and wept. I exclaimed - "What... what have I missed my whole life!" This sound was like no other; I heard sounds I have never heard before. The bass in these beauties, I thought I would need an external bass... I WAS WRONG! My house is shaking and I love it! The bass is not too overbearing, but it demands attention of all on the premises. If I had to choose again, I would choose no different. These are of amazing build quality and amazing sound. 10/10 would buy again, and I will be buying the center and the back left and right. -Verified purchase from Fluance trusted store.
