This is a follow up review from August 26th which when like this and gave it 3 stars - Waited for over 6 months to order the RT85 and received it last week. Sound quality with the Ortofon 2M Blue is excellent. It is super clear and precise and open ended. I only gave it 3 stars because the the cover had a scratch and the motor is not dead quiet. The motor makes a scratchy sound when it is running.I let it break in for awhile before I decide if I should return the unit to Fluance for a replacement or a refund.
I am happy to report that the sound quality has improved and the motor noise went away after a few days. Also, customer service was excellent and replaced my scratched cover with no problem.
Thus, I have upped the rating to 5 stars. Can't ask for a better turntable for the price.
