I am not a CD or home theatre guy, but strictly a pure analog record lover who owns a gear and vinyl record shop. These lovely speakers are on display and drop jaws daily, especially when people hear the price point. I have a stock RT82 played thru the pre-amp that sounds like a cuss word, then through a nice 120 watt stereo amp. The speakers are about 10 feet apart, and people can stand in the sweet spot to enjoy them.
First thing people say is how beautiful they are, and the. I show them the nice magnetic grilles, and show off the components. Next thing that jumps out at people is how the bass is so live and rock solid and I explain the nice down-firing woofers pounding at the floorboards!
From piano jazz to lush Roxy Music to heavy bands like Rush and Led Zeppelin, these are wonderfully versatile speakers. I have dozens of new and used speakers for people to try out with their preferred music, and all of those have what I call weaknesses and blind spots, where vocals or a piano part sound muffled and doesn’t pop as intended.
