Ai40 Powered 5” Bookshelf Speakers

I ordered a pair on Amazon. I was very excited to get these after hearing all the great reviews. I got the Ai40's to use on my desktop with my PC. Unfortunately the ones I got where defective. There was a very loud hissing and crackling noise, it was not drown out by the music either, it was very much in your face. I tried several different high quality connectors and different audio sources, nothing stopped this noise. After working with tech support who was by the way very helpful and easy to deal with it was determined that the power supply may be faulty. After I got off the phone I realized that there was even more wrong with these speakers. The speakers sounded blown and the volume output was very low. They where a complete dud, I think the quality control department needs to be re evaluated. I am awaiting a refund and planned to get another and see how it goes but after hearing that so many people have this hissing some worse than others I may look for something else. I have to sleep on it and re think my purchase choice. I have had 2 different sets of quality desktop monitor style speakers none caused any sort of hissing or noise and where silent even at full volume or you could not hear anything over the PC fans. With the Ai40's the hissing is so loud it drowns out the sound of the PC fans and cuts into the music.
Very disappointing as I had high hopes for these speakers.
