I purchased a walnut RT85 as the centre-piece of a new system for a cottage - a place that somehow seems to suit listing to vinyl records by the fire when there is a chill, or windows open on warm summer evenings. Like many others, after a little research I recognised the great style and value the RT85 offers. It was run in over the winter on an unexceptional system at home before being moved to the cottage. It is now feeding a NAD D3045 Amplifier and Mies S1 speakers (I’m reluctant to buy speakers on -line) on Kanto stands – everything bought on sale to make the budget stretch, and all Canadian brands to boot. The result is exactly as hoped –warm, detailed, spatially expansive music (mostly jazz) that makes me happy. We now miss having the turntable and records at home – so another RT85 may be in our future.
