I have been using an LP60 for a little over a year now after gaining an interest in the world of vinyl. I've only had the RT82 for a few days but already I'm impressed with it's features and quality over my last turntable.
The wood finish is pure eye-candy to look at. The plinth is solid and sturdy with a nice weight to it. The speed control knob has a great tactile feel. The 3 acorn shaped feet made it easy to level the plinth. The tonearm is a very nice quality and looks beautiful with the Ortofon Super OM 10 mounted to it. Speaking of the stylus; it produces great sound even on my cheap $100 powered speakers. I may upgrade to an Ortofon RED or BLUE someday, but this one pleases my ears greatly for now. I was afraid a lot of my music may sound washed out or dull since a great deal of my collection consists of technical death metal, yet this cartridge performs nicely even when playing heavy music.
The RPM sensor has to be one of my favorite features of this TT. I almost bought the RT81 but I wanted more consistent speed and less hassle. The RT82 is right on the dot for RPM speed. An app on my phone is saying there is 0.00% wow and flutter; which is probably close to the actual case.
The smokey colored TT dust cover that comes with the RT82 is great, too. The hinges feel of a nice quality and seem to be spring-loaded. One of the hinges were a little bit of a pain to get on to the dust cover but I used a butter knife to help pry it open.
Another thing I love about the RT82 is that it is essentially the same thing as the RT85 minus the Ortofon BLUE and acrylic platter. I'll probably upgrade to those two features if Fluance offers the platter seperately someday. I could talk about this TT for hours as I'm loving it right now.
After many months of research I decided to go with Fluance. This turntable is definitely giving Rega, U-turn and Pro-Ject a run for their money.
The turntable was easy to set up, it plays perfectly, and it looks fantastic, too.
Just recently got into vinyl collecting and was looking for my first turntable. The RT82 turntable is a great solid turntable that is a clear cut above the budget entry level TTs, but is still an affordable product that won't break the bank. Out of all the Fluance TTs, or even other "beginner" turntables, I think the RT82 is probably the best value to start out with as it not only has great baseline specs and features (wow/flutter, OM10 stylus, hefty plinth), but is also an investment for the future if I ever want to upgrade parts of it.
The only issue I noticed was that the balance between the left and right channels for my speakers seems to be a bit uneven. But I'm not sure whether that's the turntable or my speakers or something else. Either way, I reached out to the Fluance customer support team and they responded promptly with advice. Great customer support!
Easy buying experience and great turntable
The turntable is amazing. Great quality, beautiful and works flawlessly. Love it.
I've had my RT82 for about a 1 1/2 and it sounds great.
Great turntable!! Runs super quite! Love the wood finish!
Easy to set up vs. the ProJect Elemental, which I returned because the belt wouldn't stay on. This Fluance is a much heavier & better designed turntable. Too bad all A/V stuff is in a media closet because I'd love to show it off!
The shipping was fast, and customer aftercare is excellent with Fluance so far, as others have pointed out, but more importantly than any of that, since purchasing the RT82, I'm listening to way more music than I was before. I'm buying more albums and flipping them again and again, connecting with music deeply. I think that's probably the highest praise a piece of audio equipment can receive.
I absolutely love this turntable. I was blown away by the build quality when I received it.. then even more blown away by the sound quality. There is no other turntable even close to this at this price point, and would beat out turntables that cost a couple hundred more.
got the RT82 and it had several faint scratches on it call and talk to Sean in customer service no problem sent it back , like how well he was at dealing with me so i going to get the RT 83 little more money but they made me feel good
Nice looking and flawless performance. Easy set up and is a great addition to my living room!
I did a lot of research looking for a good turntable that hit the right sweet spot of affordability and quality, so that I could start using it today, and wouldn't have buyer's remorse when I decide to upgrade the rest of my system. After evaluating all the other turntables within $100 of this price point, the RT82 was the clear winner. This turntable is beautiful, with quality components and just the right balance of features and simplicity for novice and experienced vinyl enthusiasts alike. Paired with the newly released Fluance PA10 phono preamp, this is a great system that will last a long time, and allow you to do some upgrades along the way like a new cartridge and an acrylic platter until you truly get snobby enough to start dropping thousands of dollars on your hi-fi setup. If you are looking for a turntable, you do not need to look any further than the RT82.
The turntable is great so far and Sean in customer service gave me very quick responses to my pre-purchase questions. The TT arrived in just a few business days.
One of the most amazing decks I’ve seen. Build quality is fantastic. Sound quality rivals decks three or four times the price. But the customer service here far exceeded my expectations. From placing the order with Julie to working out a problem which turned out to be on my end with Sean, just an amazing company. You can build a great product but without a great service team to help your customers you fall short. Fluance does both in spectacular fashion.See all reviews
