They are great speakers for Surround Sound; so good that I plan on buying another pair for my surround back channels (my initial pair was for the surround left & right)! Game changer for rear speakers or even surround speakers 0 people found this helpfulI use it for rear speakers and they create an amazing wide environmental sound. In the early days of home theater, the original spec was to have dipole speakers on the sides (these Fluance speakers are bipole). The spec was for triangular speakers with the speakers on each side of the triangle out of phase with each other. This setup eliminated directionality and provided a wide sound field for environmental audio. Today, most folks use directional speakers for surrounds, and most films are mixed expecting regular, directional speakers. These Fluance speakers, are triangular and in-phase and split the audio difference, thus providing a more directional but wider sound field. I use them as rear speakers for that purpose. Whew! They drive easily with my AV receiver, and add a lot of ambiance. Highly recommended. Would work well as regular surrounds as well. - Verified Store
