Product Review (submitted on November 14, 2020):

I wanted to get into vinyl for years, but decided to finally take the plunge over this covid-19 period. My turntable options came down to the AT-LP60X, AT-LP120X, AT-LP3, the various U-Turn Orbits, DP-300F, and RT82. When thinking about the features, the choice became clear. The speed monitoring motor on the RT82 isn’t found on any other turntable listed in this review. The only other turntable in the list that either monitors speed for you, or allows you to easily monitor/correct the speed (without tinkering with screwdrivers), is the AT-LP120X, but that table doesn't have Auto-Stop like the RT82. Having a record spin for hours without Auto-Stop can damage the record and degrade the stylus, so this feature is crucial for a turntable. I can fall asleep to a record and not have to worry about the damage done when I wake up.

I haven't tried the RPM app yet for speed accuracy, but I haven't felt that it was needed. Other reviews here report a perfect reading of 33.3. The Auto-Stop has worked with every record I've tried so far. The bamboo finish is stunning to look at, and I prefer its' more "modern" look. The most important aspect: it sounds great.

If you're looking for a great beginner turntable, this is it. If you're looking for an upgrade to your turntable, this is it.
