  1. High quality turntable, high value but low cost 0 people found this helpful

This is a second turntable for our house but wow, it is a really great value. This model has an acrylic platter and Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge which are upgrades on several, more expensive turntables. Set up is not for beginners in my opinion. I did it myself but I have a stylus tracking pressure gauge and I would consider this essential for any turntable where the cartridge is not already installed. The other caveat is the ‘auto stop’ feature - this may be okay over time but it takes up to 30 sec to activate at the end of a record. With some records that have small run out grooves, it may activate too early. If it is a pain, you can turn it ‘off’ which is what happens with most turntables at the higher end price-wise. Those two points should help with a decision and I have no hesitation in highly recommending this turntable to most discriminating listeners looking to purchase under $1000. In fact, this was under $700 CDN at the time of this review!

  2. Why I chose Fluance 0 people found this helpful

I purchased this turntable for the ortofon stylus and the reviews. It was between the Evo carbon or the Fluance and I chose the Fluance. My friend has one and he loves it.

Bought an RT85 in December 2022, so a little more than a year now. Love it! Awesome upgrade from an Audio Technica.

  4. Unbelievable turntable at this price point. 0 people found this helpful

A big upgrade from my starter turntable. It couldn’t look or sound any better. The finish is beautiful. The stylus ( I chose the Ortofone blue ) and acrylic platter alone are almost worth the price alone. It did take a bit to set up, which I enjoyed every minute of it. Take your time read everything that you can, it will be worth it.I assume I can’t give the sound quality an honest review as I am only halfway through the break-in period. I’m at 10 hours and they recommend about a 20 hour break-in on the stylus . Either way the sound is amazing the range, the base that it picks up is incredible.Would not hesitate to recommend this turntable to anyone and everyone.

Love my RT85 1 people found this helpful

I’ve had the table now for almost 5 months, and am very pleased for the price. The table is easy to assemble, plays consistently, and looks great. The only issue I can report is that over time my cue lever raised itself up in very slow increments. But there is a screw and just required a simple adjustment. I upgraded to an AT VM540ML cartridge and this combined with my amp, speakers and sub combo I’m set. Now my money goes to buying Vinyl. If this is your price range,, buy it. You won’t be disappointed.
